This invention relates to polybutadiene modified polymer polyols which comprise one or more base polyols, at least one preformed stabilizer, one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers, and polybutadiene, in the presence of at least one free radical polymerization catalyst, and optionally, one or more chain transfer agents. The polybutadiene present in these polybutadiene modified polymer polyols may be carried into the polymer polyol through the preformed stabilizer, by a polybutadiene containing component that is added separately from the preformed stabilizer to the polymer polyol, or a combination thereof, with the total amount of polybutadiene ranging from 0.03 to 1.0% by weight of polybutadiene, based on 100% by weight of the polymer polyol. The present invention also relates to processes for preparing these polybutadiene modified polymer polyols, to foams prepared from these polybutadiene modified polymer polyols, and to processes for producing foams from these polybutadiene modified polymer polyols.

The invention relates to graft polyols with a bimodal particle size distribution and a total solid content of between 5 and 65 wt. %. Said polyols contain small particles with a particle diameter of between 0.05 and 0.7 νm and large particles with a particle diameter of between 0.4 and 5.0 νm, whereby the peaks of the large and small particles measured during a representation according to the light-scattering analysis method do not overlap. The total solid content with the defined particle sizes consists of a volumetric fraction of between 5 and 45 % small particles and a volumetric fraction of between 95 and 55 % large particles, said volumetric fractions totalling 100 %. The invention also relates to a method for producing graft polyols of this type and to the use thereof for producing polyurethanes.

There is a provided a stable low viscosity graft polymer dispersion comprising from 25 to 60 weight percent based on the total weight of the polymer dispersion of at least three ethylenically unsaturated monomers polymerized in the presence of a reaction moderator and a free radical initiator in a polyol mixture initially containing less than 0.1 moles of induced unsaturation per mole of said polyol mixture. One of the monomers in the mixture of ethylenically unsaturated monomers is a hydroxylfunctional or aminofunctional C 2 - C 6 alkyl methacrylate.

A thermosetting unsaturated polyester-polyurethane hybrid foam resin composition is made without significant blistering by using a 2-component catalyst system - one which initiates at room temperature and one which initiates at a temperature of at least 75 DEG C and has a one-hour half-life temperature of at least 90 DEG C; the composition has a room temperature stability of at least thirty days.
