The present invention seeks to provide an express-control system for analysing the compatibility of blood with other substances. The present invention relates to a system, method and apparatus for use in blood testing and more specifically, food intolerance testing through analysis of blood using luminescence. The present invention utilises a blood testing system and apparatus, which includes a displacement assembly (4), a blood divider assembly (6), a reagent divider assembly (7), an electro-optical multiplier assembly (8) and a central controller (10). A sample of blood is added to a corresponding one of a plurality of canisters (20) containing a test substance. Thereafter a luminescent reagent is added and the plurality of canisters are moved in the blood testing apparatus until the canisters begin to luminese. The amount of luminescence is measured and analysed an indicator of compatibility of the blood with the test substance and more specifically as an indicator of the presence and activity of neutrophil in the blood and more specifically the granulacy of the blood.

The present invention provides a stabilized luminescence system by extending the half-life of Coleoptera luciferin/luciferase luminescent reactions. A luminescence method for luciferin/luciferase system, comprising reacting a luciferin with a Coleoptera luciferase in the presence of pyrophosphoric acid and/or a pyrophosphate to thereby generate a luminescence whose half-life is 5 minutes or more is provided. A method of using the same, luminescent reagents and luminescent reagent kits are also provided.

The invention described herein provides systems and methods for multi-modal imaging with light and a second form of imaging. Light imaging involves the capture of low intensity light from a light-emitting object. A camera obtains a two-dimensional spatial distribution of the light emitted from the surface of the subject. Software operated by a computer in communication with the camera may then convert two-dimensional spatial distribution data from one or more images into a three-dimensional spatial representation. The second imaging mode may include any imaging technique that compliments light imaging. Examples include magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computer topography (CT). An object handling system moves the object to be imaged between the light imaging system and the second imaging system, and is configured to interface with each system.

In particular, the present invention is directed to a device for the parallel imaging of fluorescence intensities at a plurality of sites as a measure for DNA hybridization. More particular, the present invention is directed to a device to image multiplex real time PCR or to read out DNA microarrays. According to a preferred embodiment the device comprises holding means (1) for holding a planar support (2) with an assembly of multiple individual sites (3); at least one light source (4) for emitting light comprising at least one excitation frequency; a transducer (5) for receiving fluorescence signals from said sites; a field lens (6); an excitation lens arrangement (10), and an imaging lens arrangement (11), wherein said excitation path and said fluorescence imaging light path are telecentric on the object side of said field lens and wherein the angle of indidence of the excitation light with said planar support is larger than 0°.
