A resonance shear measuring method capable of simple and rapid measurement by obtaining a resonance shear curve through Fourier transformation of a damping curve of an oscillation on one side surface of a sample during measurement of shear response from the sample is provided. The method is to measure shear response of the sample sandwiched between the solid surfaces of a resonance shear measurement unit along with a change in film thickness by applying an input signal U in to a horizontal driving section of the shear resonance measurement unit, by detecting an oscillation on one side surface of the sample sandwiched between solid surfaces of the resonance shear measurement unit as an output signal U out by means of a displacement gauge, and by applying the output signal U out along with the input signal U in to a resonance shear signal analyzer, wherein a damping curve of the oscillation on one side surface of the sample is Fourier transformed by a Fourier transformation section (5B) to obtain a resonance shear curve. Also provided is a twin-path type apparatus for shear stress measurement capable of precise measurement of shear stress by using a twin-path method by which a distance between opaque substrates can be measured.

In accordance with the invention, the method comprises predetermining the slip ratio S 0 of the driving wheel (8) on a non-slip surface as a function of the normal force N applied to the road (1) from the driving wheel and depending on the vehicle mass m, and of the traction force F; determining the slip ratio S, the normal force N 1 and the traction force F 1 of the driving wheel (8) during driving; determining the normalized slip ratio s' through comparison of the slip ratio S 1 of the driving wheel (8) during driving with the predetermined slip ratio S 0 on a non-slip surface, with the same traction force Fi and normal force N 1 ; and determining the road (1) surface slipperiness from the normalized slip ratio s'.

A charge potential distributed over a vehicle body (2A) resulting from the contact, separation, and friction between a tire (2B) and a road surface (3) is detected by a detecting unit (10) provided with a sensing electrode (11) that is disposed on the external surface of the vehicle body (2A), a reference electrode (12) that is disposed apart from the external surface of the vehicle body (2A) with a space therebetween, and a sensor amplifier (13) that senses a potential between the sensing electrode (11) and the reference electrode (13) as a signal and amplifies the signal. And the amplitude of the charge potential detected by the detecting unit (10) is monitored by a data processing unit (20), thereby making it possible to accurately identify not only the state of the road surface but also an internal pressure state of the tire, a wear state of the tire, and the like during vehicular travel.
