In producing alkanolamines by use of a microporous material as a catalyst, the difficulty in industrially performing the production because of the short lifetime of the catalyst is resolved. A process of regenerating the catalyst by removing an organic substance deposited on the catalyst by means of decomposing and/or extracting the substance is introduced, and thereby steady production is carried out substantially over the long term by switching the reaction and the regenerating processes.

Es wird ein kontinuierliches Verfahren zur Herstellung von Monoethanolamin, Diethanolamin und Triethanolamin durch Umsetzung von Ammoniak und Ethylenoxid in flüssiger Phase in Gegenwart von Wasser als Katalysator in einer Druckkolonne vorgeschlagen, wobei durch die Reaktionswärme ein Teil des Ammoniaks verdampft, am Kolonnenkopf kondensiert und erneut auf die Kolonne aufgegeben wird, das Reaktionsgemisch am unteren Ende der Druckkolonne abgezogen und anschließend aufgetrennt wird, die Druckkolonne als Reaktivdestillationskolonne (I) mit Sumpfverdampfer (S) ausgebildet ist und wobei man mittels des Energieeintrags über den Sumpfverdampfer (S) das Gewichtsverhältnis Monoethanolamin zu Diethanolamin zu Triethanolamin und über das Verhältnis von Ammoniak zu Ethylenoxid in der Zuführung zur Reaktivdestillationskolonne (I) den Ammoniakanteil im Sumpfaustrag der Reaktivdestillationskolonne (I) regelt.

A process for the alkoxylation of a polyetheramine to form an etheramine alkoxylate. In the process, a polyetheramine is reacted with an alkylene oxide in the presence of an alcohol to form the etheramine alkoxylate. The alcohol serves as a catalyst to allow the reaction proceed at a heightened temperature as compared to the reaction in the absence of alcohol, while at the same time limiting the amount of glycol by-product production which would otherwise typically form when higher polyetheramines are to be alkoxylated. The alcohol may be, for instance, ethanol or methanol.

In a method for producing aminoethylethanolamine, hydroxyethyl piperazine or both these compounds, ethylenediamine, piperazine or a mixture thereof is continously ethoxylated in an excess of ethylenediamine and/or piperazine. The resulting ethoxylation product flow is then processed by distillation in a distillation plant for processing an amination product flow obtained in the amination of monoethanolamine with ammonia.
