Known drive circuits for vibration conveyors control the supplied power by means of a variable transformer or phase control regulation. The conveyors are mechanically tuned to the mains frequency or double the mains frequency. Disadvantages of this are e.g., that the mechanical tuning must be performed regularly while pausing the conveyor. According to the invention current and voltage are measured continuously, and basic relations permit the length of the airgap to be calculated based on these measurements. The result is used in a control loop which maintains sinusoidal supply of power at the relevant mechanical resonance frequence, which hence does not need to be adjusted periodically.

A control method and a controller of a vibrating feeder which allow the vibrating feeder to have an excellent responsibility at the time of start thereof and to suppress the mechanical strength of the vibrating feeder by readily smoothing overshoots which might otherwise be caused by a transient response at the time of start are provided. A feed-power is set at a level corresponding around to or higher than a target amplitude of the vibrating feeder 1 at the time of start thereof, so that it has the excellent responsibility at the time of start. Further, following to that, it is set at a level lower than that at least once, so that the overshoot at which the vibrating feeder 1 exceeds the target amplitude may be suppressed, thus allowing to reduce the mechanical strength of the vibrating feeder.

A great damping factor ha of 10 to 50 % is set for the support, and the angular frequency omega a of the first added mass body and the angular frequency omega b due to the free vibration of the second added mass body on the arc-like running surface are synchronized with the natural circular frequency omega 1, whereby a control force corresponding to the response of the structure is imparted to the driving member as a second added mass body, thereby reducing the response by the structure to earthquake or wind.
