Abstract:
There are provided a catheter and a manufacturing method thereof which can restrain a guide wire lumen and a dilation lumen from communicating with each other during thermal fusion-bonding while suppressing an increase in an outer diameter of a catheter shaft. A catheter 10 has a catheter shaft 11 in which a distal side shaft 20, an inner tube shaft 22, and a proximal side shaft 21 are integrated with each other in a fusion region 25 by means of fusing. The inner tube shaft 22 has an opening portion 11a which opens outward and an arc-shaped portion 40 which extends from the opening portion 11a to a proximal side and which has only a portion of an entire circumference in a circumferential direction of the inner tube shaft 22. The fusion region 25 includes the opening portion 11a located on a distal side of a proximal end of the distal side shaft 20. A region in which the arc-shaped portion 40 and the proximal side shaft 21 are fused with each other is formed in the fusion region 25 on a proximal side of the opening portion 11a. The proximal side shaft 21 and the inner tube shaft 22 are fused with each other over an entire length from a proximal portion to a distal portion of the fusion region 25.
Abstract:
A medical device includes a polymer scaffold (10) crimped to a catheter having an expansion balloon (12). A sheath pair (20,30) is placed over the crimped scaffold after crimping to reduce recoil of the crimped polymer scaffold and maintain scaffold-balloon engagement relied on to hold the scaffold to the balloon when the scaffold is being delivered to a target in a body. The sheath pair is removed by a health professional before placing the scaffold within the body.

Abstract:
The application relates to a medical catheter for hypothermic treatment, with a catheter tube (10), which has at least one through-channel (11) and at least two temperature control channels (12, 13), and with at least one heat exchange element (14), in particular an expandable balloon, which is arranged in a distal catheter portion (15) of the catheter tube (10) and is fluidically connected to the temperature control channels (12, 13) in such a way that a temperature control circuit is formed. The application is characterized in that the catheter tube (10) has a smaller external diameter in the distal catheter portion (16) than in a proximal catheter portion (15).
Abstract:
Balloon catheter including an outer shaft having a hypotube (220) and a monolithic single-layer distal outer member (230), a balloon (140) in fluid communication with an inflation lumen (200,201,202), and a monolithic inner tubular member (240) having a guidewire lumen (210,211) defined therethrough. The outer shaft has the inflation lumen defined therethrough. The monolithic single-layer distal outer member is necked to a reduced diameter along an entire length thereof. A proximal end (231) of the monolithic single-layer distal outer member is coupled to the hypotube. A distal section (222) of the hypotube comprises a skive defined by a first angled cut (420), an axial cut (440), and a second angled cut (460). The balloon has a proximal balloon shaft (145) coupled to a distal end of the monolithic single-layer distal outer member. The monolithic inner tubular member extends distally from a proximal port (280) in the monolithic single-layer distal outer member through the balloon to form a tip (270).
Abstract:
An elongate shaft of a medical catheter including a thermoset polymeric tubular member including a skived distal portion. The skived distal portion includes a distally extending trough having a convex surface and a concave surface. A thermoplastic tubular sleeve may be positioned over at least a portion of the skived distal portion of the thermoset polymeric tubular member. In some instances, the thermoplastic tubular sleeve includes a crescent-shaped tubular portion defining a crescent-shaped lumen. The trough of the skived distal portion may extend through the crescent-shaped lumen. The thermoplastic tubular sleeve is thermally bonded to the inner and outer tubular members of a distal section of the elongate shaft at a guidewire port joint.
