    processing means for modifying the image to be displayed by the display (2) and for overlaying on the image displayed by the display (2) at least a reference line which corresponds to a predetermined distance at ground level from the driver's ocular points or from the rear part of the vehicle (10).

The vehicle display control device generates line images and an obstacle image and acquires the direction of the obstacle relative to the vehicle. When the direction of the obstacle relative to the vehicle is to the front of the vehicle, virtual lines (231, 232, 233, and 235), which are the virtual images of the line images, are concave with respect to a first direction. When the direction of the obstacle relative to the vehicle is to the rear of the image, the virtual lines are concave with respect to a second direction opposite to the first direction. The position of a virtual obstacle image (234 or 236), which is a virtual image of the obstacle image, differs depending on the direction of the obstacle relative to the vehicle in the widthwise direction.
