Abstract:
The invention provides various isolated and synthetic forms of lipidated PSA as well as isolated or synthetic forms of the glycolipid component of lipidated PSA, and compositions thereof, methods of making including methods of isolating such forms, and methods of use thereof.
Abstract:
Provided herein are methods for treating a pulmonary infection in a patient in need thereof, for example, a nontuberculous mycobacterial pulmonary infection for at least one treatment cycle. The method comprises administering to the lungs of the patient a pharmaceutical composition comprising a liposomal complexed aminoglycoside comprising a lipid component comprising electrically neutral lipids and an aminoglycoside. Administration comprises aerosolizing the pharmaceutical composition to provide an aerosolized pharmaceutical composition comprising a mixture of free aminoglycoside and liposomal complexed aminoglycoside, and administering the aerosolized pharmaceutical composition via a nebulizer to the lungs of the patient. The methods provided herein result in a change from baseline on the semi-quantitative scale for mycobacterial culture for a treated patient, and/or NTM culture conversion to negative during or after the administration period.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides targeting peptides and vectors containing a sequence that encodes targetting peptides that deliver agents, to the eye. The present inventors have discovered peptides that function to target agents, such as viral vectors, to ocular cells. The present disclosure describes a method to utilize these novel peptides to direct, for example, viral capsids to the cell type of interest. In this instance, ocular cells (such as retinal cells) are targeted by the identified peptides. Vectors harboring capsid proteins modified to include such peptides can be used to provide therapeutic agents to the eye.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a double-stranded ribonucleic acid (dsRNA) for inhibiting the expression of the PCSK9 gene (PCSK9 gene), comprising an antisense strand having a nucleotide sequence which is less that 30 nucleotides in length, generally 19-25 nucleotides in length, and which is substantially complementary to at least a part of the PCSK9 gene. The invention also relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising the dsRNA together with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier; methods for treating diseases caused by PCSK9 gene expression and the expression of the PCSK9 gene using the pharmaceutical composition.
Abstract:
Described herein are methods for treating or preventing a disease or disorder of the pulmonary system (e.g., cystic fibrosis), respiratory or digestive system in a subject, the methods comprising administering compounds or compositions comprising water soluble polyglucosamine and derivatized polyglucosamine.
