The invention relates to a decorative coating which is embodied in such a way that it can be detached without leaving any residue. The detachability of the inventive coating is created by the use of an aqueous binding agent system consisting of natural and synthetic organic polymers, and by the small proportion of said aqueous binding agent system. Compared to known coatings, the inventive coating is especially processing-friendly as it is characterised by a very long processing time, by residue-free, clean and easy detachability, simultaneously protecting the surface beneath, and by individual shaping possibilities. The inventive coating can be detached simply by moistening and removing. The inventive composition is especially used as decorative floating plaster or structural plaster in inner spaces.

This embodiment comprises: (a) a substrate having at least one surface; and (b) a coating on the surface wherein the coating comprises: (1) a binder comprising organic polymer, wehrein poly(ethylene oxide) having a weight average molecular weight in the range of from 100,000 to 3,000,000 constitutes at least 20 percent by weight of the organic polymer; and (2) discrete particles dispersed in the binder, which particles have a number average particle size in the range of from 1 to 500 nanometers.

The compositions may also include a glycol, microbial agents, gelling agents, surfactants, and antifoamants in an aqueous medium. In a process for enveloping solid forms such as seeds with the above composition, the composition may be mixed with seed protectant chemicals, such as fungicides, prior to its application to seeds in seed treating equipment.

It is the object of the present invention to provide a hydrophilic surface treating aqueous solution, hydrophilic surface treating method, and hydrophilic surface treating film persisting the hydrophilicity and ensuring a film having a good processability. The hydrophilic treating aqueous solution contains as main components a hydrophilic high molecular compound having a specific molecular weight and containing a polyoxyalkylene chain of 10 wt% or more in terms of solid content, and a specific aqueous resin. This enables the formation of film conferring a processability and good hydrophilicity and persistency of hydrophilicity on the surface of aluminum or aluminum alloy for use in aluminum fins of a heat exchanger, as well as suppressing the generation of unpleasant odor.

A masking composition for use in paint spray booths which comprises an aqueous solution or dispersion of a cellulose gum, a plasticizer and preferably a surfactant. The composition is applied to the surfaces and related paint spray booth equipment to mask them from paint overspray during the painting operation. The maskant forms a water soluble film which can easily be removed by washing with water subsequent to the painting operation.
