摘要: A technique for detecting an encoder functionality issue in a media distribution system is presented. In the media distribution system consecutive media segments generated by an encoder are transmitted to a media client, and media descriptions describe expected availability times of media segments for the media client. A method implementation of the technique comprises the step of monitoring an availability time of a media segment compared to an expected availability time of the media segment, wherein the expected availability time is described by, or derived from, a media description. The method further comprises determining whether a deviation of the monitored availability time of the media segment from the expected availability time of the media segment is present, and detecting the encoder functionality issue based on a result of the determination. The encoder functionality issue may comprise one or more of an encoder restart, an encoder malfunction and an encoder time drift.

摘要: The invention relates to techniques for providing media content to an adaptive HTTP streaming player. Upon reception of a HTTP request from the adaptive HTTP streaming player, like a DASH player, requesting the media content, a HTTP entity performs a procedure for determining are presentation preference indication of the content being available on a fixed quality interface providing data with fixed data quality, which may provide data being for example received over a broadcast interface or being available in a cache. Said representation preference indication is signaled to the adaptive HTTP streaming player, which is adapted to use the representation preference indication for further requests. The adaptive HTTP streaming player is not aware whether the con- tent is available on a fixed or unicast interface, but is forced with the solution to use the preferred representation being available on the fixed quality interface. Consequently, the adaptive HTTP streaming player stops to measure any changes in the link quality of the provided data on the unicast interface upon reception of the representation preference indication and requests data according to the representation preference indication.

摘要: The invention proposes a method for receiving a media stream, whereby the media stream is segmented in a plurality of consecutive segments. In the beginning a Manifest file is received, whereby the Manifest file comprises an indication of media segments in a URI template manner and a start index referencing a first segment of said media stream. From the received information within the Manifest file different URIs are assembled, whereby an assembled URI references a segment of said plurality of segments and whereby assembling is based on said indication and an index, whereby the index is calculated on basis of the start index and is incremented by a predetermined value for each consecutive segment. By means of these assembled URIs said segments are received, whereby receivng is based on an identifier allowing for identifying packets of a same segment, whereby said segments are spread over a plurality of packets and each packet of a particular segment comprises said particular identifier, whereby the index is mapped to the identifier. The fetched media segment packets are reassembled to form said media stream. The invention proposes also a method for providing said media streams in the above described manner as well as respective apparatuses allowing for executing the respective method.

摘要: A technique for controlling a play-out of a media data stream at a receiving device is provided. The media data stream comprises one or more programs, and each program comprises one or more program components. In a method implementation of the technique, a zone description is defined. The zone description is defined for a media zone for at least one program or at least one program component in the media stream and identifies the media zone for the at least one program or the at least one program component. In a next step, the zone description is associated to a program specific information data segment. The program specific information data segment is part of the media stream and comprises data specifying information at least regarding to the at least one program or at least one program component. The method also comprises transmitting the media data stream towards the receiving device.

摘要: The present disclosure relates to the field of multicast/broadcast transmission of content data. A method embodiment for controlling transmission of a PTM service from a content source 102 to a plurality of recipients 120, 122, 124 in a service area, wherein the service area is arranged at a higher hierarchy level and comprises a plurality of local areas arranged at a lower hierarchy level, comprises receiving location information indicating a location in the service area; determining an input traffic load of the PTM service to be transmitted to the service area; selecting the service area or a subset of one or more of the local areas contained in the service area as a destination area for the PTM service, wherein the selection is based on the received location information and the input traffic load; and controlling transmission of the PTM service to the selected destination area.

摘要: The disclosure relates to a technique for transporting content data to a plurality of mobile clients in a network. Among others, a method embodiment for controlling bearer selection by the mobile client in the network having a plurality of access areas is presented. Each access area provides for a transmission of the content data at least one of a point-to-multipoint-type bearer (PTM-type bearer) and a point-to-point-type bearer (PTP-type bearer). The method comprises the step of receiving information regarding a local bearer topology (LBT). The LBT comprises at least two neighbouring access areas including an access area of the mobile client. The LBT information indicates for each access area of the LBT an availability or unavailability of at least one bearer of at least one bearer type. The method further comprises the step of performing bearer selection based on the LBT information.
