A sintering aid for promoting sintering of silicon carbide (ceramic particles) and fine particles, which are formed of the same substance as silicon carbide and have a small average diameter, are mixed together to prepare a body. The average diameter of the ceramic particles is preferably 5 to 100 µm, the average diameter of the fine particles is preferably 0.1 to 1.0 µm, and the average particle diameter of the sintering aid is preferably 0.1 to 10 µm. Alumina is used as the sintering aid. This body is extruded into a honeycomb shape which is then sintered at a temperature (1900 to 2100°C) below a temperature at which sintering is carried out without mixing of the sintering aid. The coefficient of thermal conductivity of the honeycomb structure (10) is 60% or more of a sinter produced without the addition of any sintering aid to silicon carbide and is not less than 12 W/m·K at 20°C.

Nanocomposites of the organo-modified carbon nanotubes and polyolefins can be used to produce both fibers and films having enhanced mechanical and electrical properties, especially the elongation-to-break ratio and the toughness of the fibers and/or films.

A tube manufacturing system (10) is provided that is capable of manufacturingtube structures that are on the nanoscale and larger. The system provides for control as to the structure and atomic makeup of the feed sheet material (5) used and provides motive force to the sheet material (5) being used to continuously advance the sheet material through the various system components. Rollers (17 and 18) are used for cutting sheet material (5). The rollers (17 and 18) may have troughs to place a sufficient mechanical force on the sheet material. After the tube structures are formed, they may be used in providing a source material for manufacturing macroscopic objects thus increasing the level of performance and capabilities of such objects due to the engineered properties of the tube structures formed within this system (1) and method of manufacturing. Processes for manufacturing of nanotubes are also disclosed, as are nanotubes manufactured by the processes and system of the invention.

The bristle density is in the range of 8 to 20 bristles per turn; more preferably 10-15 bristles per turn, and most preferably 12-14 bristles per turn. The bristles have a diameter of from .010 inch to about .016 inch, preferably .011 inch to .014 inch, and most preferably.011 or.012 inch. The bristle durometer is in the range of about 92 Shore D hardness to 120 Rockwell R; more preferably about 100 to 120 Rockwell R; most preferably about 103 to 108 Rockwell R. In one preferred embodiment, the filaments have a durometer of 108 Rockwell R. The brush is stable and effective for rapid lengthening of eyelashes and combing of the eyelashes.

The invention relates to a multi-component fiber having enhanced reversible thermal properties and methods of manufacturing thereof. The multi-component fiber comprises a fiber body formed from a plurality of elongated members, at least one of the elongated members comprising a temperature regulating material dispersed therein. The temperature regulating material comprises a phase change material. The multi-component fiber may be formed via a melt spinning process or a solution spinning process and may be used or incorporated in various products where a thermal regulating property is desired. For example, the multi-component fiber may be used in textiles, apparel, footwear, medical products, containers and packagings, buildings, appliances, and other products.
