The present invention provides a structural insulation profile (10) comprising a solid matrix material having an outer surface, reinforcing fibres (2) embedded in said solid matrix material, and a deformable material (4) having a compressive strength which is less than the compressive strength of the solid matrix material and the reinforcing fibres (2), said deformable material being at least partly embedded in said solid matrix material adjacent to, or exposed at, a portion of said outer surface for defining a deformation zone (22). The deformation zone (22) solves the problem of how to attach the structural insulation profile (10) to other structural components such as a metal profile (100) comprising cooperating webs (108, 112). Clamping the webs (108, 112) onto the structural insulation profile (10) over the deformation zone (22) results in the formation of an indentation in the deformation zone (22) of the structural insulation profile (10), which indentation, together with the solid matrix material and any reinforcing fibres (2) surrounding the indentation provide an interference fit with the metal profile (100). A building component (200) comprising the structural insulation profile (10) and a method of producing the structural insulation profile (10) are also provided.

An intravascular catheter system for properly implanting a stent in a body lumen generally comprising a catheter having an elongated shaft with an inflatable balloon formed of compliant material and a stent mounted on the working length of the balloon. The wingless radially expansive balloon expands in a uniform manner, thereby producing uniform expansion and implantation of the stent. Another embodiment is directed to a balloon catheter having a semi-compliant balloon formed at least in part of a block copolymer. Axial elongation during inflation may be prevented by axial stretching or orientation during balloon production process or by mechanical device fitted on the catheter.

A polymeric netting includes polymeric strands and first and second polymeric ribbons. The first and second ribbons each independently have a height-to-width aspect ratio of at least three to one and a major surface that is intermittently bonded to a polymeric strand, with first and second edges symmetrically disposed on opposite sides of a center line bisecting the major surface. The netting has first and second opposing major surfaces transverse to the major surfaces of the first and second ribbons. The first major surface of the netting includes the first edges of the first ribbons, and the second major surface includes the second edges of the second ribbons. The first ribbons do not extend to the second major surface, and the second ribbons do not extend to the first major surface. Articles including the netting, an extrusion die, and a method useful for making the netting are also disclosed.
