An end module assembly has an internal support structure (100). An exterior fascia is mounted to the internal support structure. The fascia is configured to be a portion of a vehicle body assembly when the end module assembly is installed on the vehicle. An external visible component is mounted to the support structure in a fixed relationship with respect to the fascia in proper alignment with respect to the fascia with a surface thereof facing exteriorly of the fascia. A bumper beam (112) and bumper beam mounting structure connects the bumper beam to the internal support structure. A mounting structure is connected to the support structure for attaching the support structure to mounting points on the partially completed motor vehicle. The mounting structure permits selective repositioning of the end module assembly in a longitudinal, vertical and horizontal direction relative to the partially completed motor vehicle whereby the fascia is alignable with respect to the remaining portions of the vehicle body assembly prior to secure engagement of the end module to the partially completed motor vehicle.

The invention relates to an impact protection device for rail vehicles, comprising one or more energy absorbing elements (25) mounted on the main frame of the rail vehicle and having a box-like structure. The invention is characterized in that from the box end in the direction of the main frame (29) a reverse-drawn recess (20) and a buffer rod (21) are provided and the buffer rod can be displaced along the interior wall of the reverse-drawn recess (20). Elastically deformable energy absorbing elements (32) such as a friction spring (33) or a hydraulic capsule (34) are mounted in the hollow space formed by the buffer rod (21) and the reverse-drawn recess (20). The invention provides a greater active length for energy absorption in case of impact than a sequential box arrangement and a standard sleeve buffer.

A vehicle safety restraint proposes improved, simpler and more cost effective load limiting arrangements for seat belts. The energy absorbing device is arranged to absorb and/or dissipate energy generated under extreme acceleration and/or deceleration of the vehicle so as to reduce the effective force felt by the vehicle occupant. The device comprises: a metal strip of a predetermined length connected between an anchorage point of the belt and the seat belt webbing, and means for deforming or bending at least a portion of the metal strip, the deforming means being arranged to transfer load from the seat belt to the metal strip. The metal strip may be bent from a straight strip, straightened from a bent strip, otherwise deformed, sheared, or split or punched to absorb energy. It is deformed by being drawn or pushed or pulled through shaped slots, or alternatively deformed by rotating rollers with fins, or moving toothed racks, operating against cooperating mandrels.
