The invention relates to a method for measuring and estimating a brake factor (Bf) in a vehicle brake system, said vehicle (1 ) comprising a towing vehicle (2) and a trailer (3) having a plurality of wheel axles (4, 5, 6, 7), wherein said method comprises: initiating a controlled braking manoeuvre involving at least a first wheel axle (4) and a second wheel axle (5); and obtaining values representing said brake factor (Bn; BR) for said wheel first wheel axle (4) and said second wheel axle (5) by means of a control unit (13) which is provided with a brake adaptation function to obtain a brake balance between said towing vehicle (2) and said trailer (3). According to the invention, said method furthermore comprises the following steps: braking (17), in a forced manner, said first wheel axle (4) when retardation of said vehicle (1) is requested; estimating (18) the brake factor (Bf1) for said first wheel axle (4) by determining the brake pressure (Pcyn) and braking torque (Tbrake-i) for said first wheel axle (4); providing a transition phase (19) after which said second wheel axle (5) is braked, in a forced manner, and estimating (20) the brake factor (Bf2) for said second wheel axle (5) by determining the brake pressure (Pcyιi) and braking torque (Tbrake2) for said second wheel axle (5). Es wird eine Vorrichtung zur pneumatischen Bremsung eines Nutzfahrzeugs mit lastabhängig absenkbarer, bremsbarer Nachlaufachse vorgeschlagen. Gegenüber bekannten Lösungen, welche automatisch wirkende, lastabhängige Bremsdruckregler für die Hinterachse/n in Verbindung mit einem vom geregelten Hinterachs-Bremsdruck unmittelbar ansteuerbaren Betriebsbremsventil verwenden, sieht die erfindungsgemäße Vorrichtung die Einschaltung eines Druckminderventils (23) in den entsprechenden Ansteuerweg zwischen Bremsdruckregler (19) und Betriebsbremsventil (14) vor. Diese Einschaltung geschieht je nach Fahrzeugbeladung und Zahl der Lastachsen automatisch nach Maßgabe des sensierten pneumatischen Druckes im Liftbalg (26) der Nachlaufachse. Es wird dadurch ein besseres Bremsverhalten und eine insgesamt höhere spezifische Ausnutzbarkeit der Bremsen bei wahlweise abgesenkter oder nicht abgesenkter Nachlaufachse erreicht.
