A seam area, and a method of making a seam for an industrial fabric, provide for first and second fold lines oriented in the CD of the fabric. Each fold line comprises a set of land areas configured to define a set of holes, and the land areas of each set are constructed and arranged such that when the fabric is folded along the fold lines and the fold lines are aligned with each other, each folded land area of each set is offset from the folded land areas of the other set, and aligned with and receivable by an opposing hole of the other set to form a channel to receive a fastening means. The seams provide the benefits of simple, accurate and economical construction, strength, consistency with adjacent fabric surfaces, and thus reduced marking of sheets carried by the fabrics.

This vertical packager comprises a packing sheet (2) marking mechanism (3), along the path of said packing sheet (2) from the reel (21) towards the cutting, filling, and package sealing sections (11) . Said mechanism (3) includes a laser beam generator that upon application to the packing sheet (2) creates a tear line (9) of varying adjustable shapes and depths and systems for focussing of the laser beam onto the packing sheet (2), a housing mounted on movable guide sections of the focussing system, a protective casing, ventilation apparatus for the removal of smoke created and a control system for movement of the housing and for the operation of the laser beam generator.

To provide a flange to be attached to an end of a photoconductor drum, the flange including: a drum engagement part capable of being engaged with an inner surface of the photoconductor drum; and a center hole, wherein the flange is prepared by cutting at least one of a surface of the engagement part and an inner surface of the center hole so that the axis of the center hole coincides with the axis of the photoconductor drum.

The invention relates to a method for the flat butt joining of two sections (10, 12) of textile pieces by means of an adhesive ribbon (28) bridging the one and the other edge (14, 16). According to the invention, before the application of the adhesive ribbon (28), the two margins adjacent to said edges (14, 16) are glued together such as to hold together said edges (14, 16), the glued margins are cut down close to said edges (14, 16) held together, said adhesive ribbon (28) is applied across the two edges (14, 16) held together and said cut-down glued margins (24, 26) and, on gluing the adhesive ribbon (28), said cut-down glued margins (24, 26) are smoothed down.

The present invention relates to a method for plugging the cavity (1) in a hollow thermoplastic profile (2) having an essentially rectangular cross section, which profile (2) has been spirally wound to form a pipe. The invention is characterized in that a slit (3a, 3b) is cut in the wall of the profile in the outer or inner wall of the pipe, which slit extends over the whole width of the cavity (1), a thermoplastic plate (4) having a cross section which matches with the length and the width of the slit (3a, 3b) and a height which is larger than the height of the profile (2), is inserted through said slit (3a, 3b) and welded to the inside of the side walls of the profile (2), after the surfaces inside the profile (2) and on the thermoplastic plate (4) to be joined together have been worked and heated into a molten state.

In order to attach a fuel system component such as a pipe nipple to a fuel tank (12) having a polyethylene outer layer, the fuel system component (14) is made from a first material which may have desirable characteristics such as resistance to creep, but which may not be easily weldable to the polyethylene outer layer of the tank. The flange member (18) is used for attachment to the body portion of the fuel system component by welding and for attachment to the polyethylene layer of the tank. To inhibit hydrocarbon vapour flow-through through the flange member, the flange member includes a barrier layer (88) which extends from one side of the flange to the other and which surrounds the central aperture. In another embodiment of the invention, the flange member is made from a material which has the necessary barrier properties.
