Un procédé de préparation de composés fluoroaromatiques (tels que des composés de fluoronitrobenzène) comprend la réaction de composés chloroaromatiques correspondants (tels que des composés de chloronitrobenzène) avec des sels de fluorures de métaux alcalins en présence de sels d'alkyldiorganoaminopyridinium en tant que catalyseurs de transfert de phase. Un atome de carbone secondaire est directement lié à l'atome de carbone alcoyle, qui à son tour est directement lié à l'atome d'azote de la chaîne fermée. An improved process for the preparation of 2,3,4,5-tetrafluorobenzoic acid is described which involves decarboxylation of tetrafluorophthalic acid in the presence of a base catalyst. Also described is an improved method for preparing tetrafluorophthalic acid and, in turn, a one-pot process for tetrafluorobenzoic acid using the combination of the two improvements.

Fluorine-substituted phenyl benzoates represented by general formula: Ar-CO2-Ar', (wherein one of Ar and Ar' represents a p- or o-fluorophenyl group, and the other represents a m-fluorophenyl group) are prepared by subjecting a fluorobenzoic acid represented by general formula: Ar''-CO2H, (wherein Ar'' represents a fluorophenyl group) to oxidative decarboxylation reaction. They are useful as intermediates of fluorophenols.
