There is provided a quartz glass article having a surface treated with novel coating materials which provides a reduced chemistry, wherein the quartz glass surface having a reduced chemistry upon exposure to melted silicon or similarly corrosive environments, forms crystalline structures covering at least 75% of the coated surface of the quartz glass crucible. Said crystalline covered surface provides a more stable surface of contact with the silicon melt and the growth of single crystal silicon. In one embodiment of the invention, the coating material comprises at least a methyl group for providing at least one of a hydrogenated and a methylated surface on the coated surface, forming rosette structures, or other crystalline morphologies covering at last 80% of the coated surface. In another embodiment of the invention, the coating material is selected from at least one of an amine, an organosilane halogen and mixtures thereof.

The present disclosure relates to an aqueous coating composition for imparting easy-to-clean properties to a siliceous substrate, comprising: a) a polyacrylic acid having a weight average molecular weight (M w ) greater than 100.000 g/mol; b) an organic tetrafunctional alkoxysilane; c) phosphoric acid; and d) at least 70 wt% of water, based on the weight of the overall coating composition. In another aspect, the present disclosure is directed to a method of imparting easy-to-clean properties to a siliceous substrate, which comprises the steps of: a) providing a siliceous substrate; b) applying a coating composition according to any of claims 1 to 22 to the siliceous substrate thereby forming a layer of the coating composition adjacent to the siliceous substrate; and c) drying and/or curing the layer of the coating composition thereby forming a coating layer adjacent to the siliceous substrate. According to still another aspect, the present disclosure is directed to a coated article comprising a siliceous substrate and a coating layer adjacent to the siliceous substrate, wherein the coating layer comprises a layer of the coating composition as described above which has been dried and/or cured onto the siliceous substrate.

Touch screen displays and other coated articles demonstrating antiglare properties are provided. A method of forming an antiglare coating on a substrate is also provided, and may be used to prepare the coated articles. The method comprises: (a) heating the substrate to a temperature of at least 100° F. (37.8° C.) to form a heated substrate; (b) applying a curable film-forming composition on at least one surface of the heated substrate to form a substrate coated with a sol-gel layer; and (c) subjecting the coated substrate to thermal conditions for a time sufficient to effect cure of the sol-gel layer. The curable film-forming composition comprises: (i) a silane; (ii) a mineral acid; and (iii) a solvent; wherein the weight ratio of mineral acid to silane is greater than 0.008:1 and the curable film-forming composition has a solids content of less than 10 percent by weight.

An electronic device assembly includes a backplane having a glass composition substantially free of alkali ions, an elastic modulus of about 40 GPa to about 100 GPa, and a final thickness from about 20 μm to about 100 μm. The primary surfaces of the backplane are characterized by a prior material removal to the final thickness from an initial thickness that is at least 20 μm greater than the final thickness. The assembly also includes a protect layer on the first primary surface of the backplane; and a plurality of electronic components on the second primary surface of the backplane. In addition, the backplane is configured with at least one static bend having a bend radius between about 25 mm and about 5 mm. The electronic components of the electronic device assembly can include at least one thin film transistor (TFT) element or organic light emitting diode (OLED) element.
