The process comprises providing culture cells originating from a plant belonging to Taxus species, culturing the cells in a medium to which an aromatic amino acid or an aromatic carboxylic acid, or both, are added, and collecting a plant component having the taxane structure from the cultured material. The prodcutivity of taxane compounds, which possesses anti-cancer activity, is greatly promoted by the process.
