Multilayer laminates including films, sheets, preforms, containers and other articles having at least one wholly aromatic, amorphous, stretchable liquid crystalline polymer layer with at least one non-liquid crystalline thermoplastic polyester layer are provided as well as methods for producing and stretching the multilayer articles. The laminates are suitable for thermoforming and stretch blow molding applications and may be stretched at temperatures lower than the molten state of the liquid crystal polymer and at high total draw ratios without fractures or tears. Containers suitable for food or beverage products may be produced from the laminates.

Method of making multilayer preforms which resist delamination and in a reduced cycle time. A first array of preforms are molded onto a first array of cores in an associated array of mold cavities, the cores and preforms are removed from the mold cavities as soon as possible without significant physical preform deformation, and the preforms are then cooled on the cores while a second array of cores is positioned in the mold cavities. Cooling on the cores prevents delamination of the preform layers and reduces the in-mold cooling time. Providing multiple sets of cores on a rotating turret further reduces the cycle time compared to the prior art use of robotic cooling tubes.

The integrally molded container includes a tamper indicating system molded integrally with the container closure, the tamper indicating system (57) having a securing tab (66) adapted to be permanently secured to the container after the container has been filled and closed to secure the sealing cap to the container preventing removal of the sealing cap unless connection between the sealing cap and the securing tab is broken, providing a visual indication that the container has been previously opened or tampered with.

Preferably, these laminates are annular with the first layer being the outer ply. The technical field of the invention are the moulding machines, particularly the inner part (core pin) of such moulding machines for manufacturing of thermoplastic preforms, which are later on stretch-blown to containers such as PET-bottles. The invention relates to preforms having a multi-layer structure and incorporating a recycled inner layer, embedded into two layers of virgin material being on the outside and the inside of said preform. The core pin is designed by the invention such that the inner layer of the preform has a minimum thickness at their bottom area and that the minimum thickness is considerably larger than that in a layer known from prior art. The increase of layer-thickness is achieved by designing the core (2) in its front end portion (3a,3b) in an unround fashion. Possible designs of unround front ends are a flat (3b) or a shallow dimple (3a). With such design of the core pin the invention assures that the middle recycled layer does not reach the inner surface of the preform to give the preform - although recycled thermoplasts are used - food-compatibility.

The invention also provides a core rod (5) for each cavity in which a concavity is provided, adjacent the entry point of the materials into the cavity, to prevent the first injected material in an injection cycle from being washed from the end of the core rod by the second injection material, a buffer of the first injected material in the neck region of the preform to compensate for variations in temperature of the cavities and material being distributed to different parts of the mold and the use of the first part of the metered quantity of the first to be injected material from the next injection cycle to seal the preform at the end of the injection cycle.

This nozzle consists of a triple nozzle provided with concentrically formed first, second and third resin passages having a common injection port. A blown plastic container of a type normally blown from a single resin preform, such as PET, wherein the bases of a three layer construction with at least one layer either being PET having a high IV or a resin which has a high Tg. The secondary resin may either be in the form of a core layer injected into the base of the injection molded preform or in the form of initially injected inner and outer base layers. By utilizing a small amount of the second resin, greater strength can be obtained together with a greater resistance to cracking at higher temperatures as well as the reduction in the overall weight of the resultant container.
