A grease composition containing: (a) an esterified polymer derived from monomers comprising: (i) a vinyl aromatic monomer; (ii) an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydride or derivatives thereof; (b) a thickening agent; and (c) an oil of lubricating viscosity, wherein the esterified polymer contains titratable acid groups with a total acid number of at least about 4. The invention further relates to the process to make the composition and its use in grease to increase water resistance.

A first lubricating oil composition which comprises a polyol ester (A) as a base oil, a viscosity index improver (B), and an antiwearing agent (C) in a specific proportion; and a second lubricating oil composition which comprises a paraffinic hydrocarbon oil (F) having at least 30 carbon atoms and a viscosity index improver (B) in a specific proportion. These compositions have the following effects. They enable watch batteries to retain a long life, can function in the range of -30 to 80 DEG C even when used alone, and do not alter over long. Also provided is a third lubricating oil composition which comprises an ether oil (G) as a base oil, a specific amount of an antiwearing agent (C) comprising a neutral phosphoric ester and/or a neutral phosphorous ester, and an antioxidant (E). This composition does not alter over long and is suitable for use as a lubricating oil for watches. The watch is made by using in the sliding parts at least one composition selected from the group consisting of these compositions.

The object of the present invention is to provide a metal surface treatment agent which improves the press molding workability of metal materials, and which can form a coating film that is superior in terms of at least one of moisture resistance and coating film stripping characteristics. The metal surface treatment agent of the present invention comprises (A) a copolymer which comprises (a) styrene and (b) a vinyl compound with carboxyl groups that is copolymerizable with styrene, and (B) a lubricating agent. The metal surface treatment agent is characterized by the fact that the weight ratio of component (a) to component (b) in the aforementioned polymer (A), i.e., (a)/(b) (weight ratio), is in the range of 1/9 to 9/1, the proportion of (a) + (b) in the aforementioned polymer (A) is 30 to 100 weight %, and the weight ratio of (B) to (A) + (B) is 2 to 30 weight %.

More particularly, carboxylic compositions are described which are prepared by reacting a terpolymer derived from a mixture of monomers comprising ethylene, an alpha-olefin containing 3 to about 20 carbon atoms, and a non-conjugated polyene with an alpha,beta-monounsaturated dicarboxylic acid or reactive derivative thereof.
