Sprayable fireproofing compositions for structural members such as steel columns are provided, as well as a method of applying multiple coatings thereof. The compositions comprise a Portland cement-based material, stucco, a high density aggregate and an accelerator. The compositions eliminate the long setting times typical of Portland cement-based materials, and improve the hangability thereof. The product is produced by dry blending a mixture of Portland cement, a high density aggreagte, stucco (calcium sulfate hemi-hydrate) and optionally, a stucco set retarder and shredded polystyrene aggregate. Upon the addition of water, sprayable slurries are formed which can be pumped to the point of application. An accelerator is added in close proximity to the point of injection. The slurries adhere to the structural member in the slurried state and after setting to provide excellent fire and heat protection. Because of the relative quick setting time of the slurry upon spray application, multiple coatings can be applied within the same working day.

A vertical shear wall system including vertical metal framing members, for example, C-joists, U-joists, open web joists, or other metal frame systems that support a reinforced, lightweight, dimensionally stable SCP panel. The shear wall system is non-combustible, water durable, mold and rot resistant, termite resistant and is capable of resisting shear loads equal to or exceeding shear loads provided by plywood or oriented strand board panels. The panels employ one or more layers of a continuous phase resulting from the curing of an aqueous mixture of inorganic binder, for example, calcium sulfate alpha hemihydrate, hydraulic cement, an active pozzolan and lime. The continuous phase is reinforced with glass fibers and contains lightweight filler particles, for example, ceramic microspheres.

Lightweight fine particulates, especially sintered synthetic sand, as disclosed herein are characterized in that the grading of the particulates is as follows:
Disclosed is further the use of lightweight fine particulates according to the invention as aggregate for construction purposes, especially in combination with fly ash. Lightweight fine particulates according to the invention are further used as additive in paint or coating formulations, as foundry sand, additive for waste water treatment, substrate for horticultural purposes, for hydroponic gardening, for green roofing purposes or for applications in geotechnics. Disclosed are also building material compositions in form of mortar or concrete, comprising the lightweight fine particulates according to the invention. The lightweight fine particulates according to the invention, and especially the building material compositions derived from them, are advantageous in respect to superior quality and workability, sound insulation and sustainability from internal curing.

Said formulation can additionally comprise: a cement; additives for foam stabilization, shrinkage reduction, flexibility increase, hydrophobing, dispersing; fibers; fillers; and mixtures thereof; and can be present in a one-component or two-component form. The invention further relates to a method for producing said formulation by foaming by means of the mechanical introduction of air, the use of the formulation to produce a non-flammable, sound-absorbing, thermally insulating geopolymer foam element, and said geopolymer foam element.
