Also claimed is a process for preparing particles. The particles have improved shatter resistance. Preferably the polymeric particles comprise an active ingredient, especially a colourant. Such particles combine improved shatter resistance with the ability to retain the active ingredient. The particles of the invention can be used in a variety of industrial applications, for instance in the manufacture of inks, paper and cosmetics.

The invention relates to the field of chemistry and, more particularly, to radically coupled PTFE polymer compounds which can, for instance, be used as tribo materials. The invention also relates to a method for the production thereof. The aim of the invention is to disclose radically coupled PTFE polymer compounds exhibiting improved resistance to abrasion for comparable sliding properties and to disclose a simple and effective method for the production of said compounds. The radically PTFE polymer compounds consist of PTFE powders which are radiation-chemically and or plasma-chemically modified, whereby olefinically unsaturated polymers are chemically-radically coupled by reactive conversion into a melt on the particle-surface thereof. According to the inventive method for producing radically coupled PTFE polymer compounds, wherein PTFE powders are reacted with reactive perfluoroalkyl-(peroxy) radical centers after a radiation-chemical and/or plasma-chemical modification are reactively converted into a melt by adding olefinically unsaturated polymers.

This invention is related to a production method of a branched polymer which comprises polymerizing a macromonomer [I], said macromonomer [I] being a vinyl polymer obtainable by radical polymerization and terminally having one polymerizable carbon-carbon double bond-containing group per molecule. Furthermore, by producing the macromonomer by living radical polymerization, in particular atom transfer radical polymerization, it becomes possible to produce the above polymers or gels having well controlled side chain molecular weights.
