The present invention is directed to new methods of determining elongation, tension and applied pressure of elastic bandages comprising tension indicators. In one embodiment, a computer-implemented method of detecting elongation of an elastic bandage (e.g. on a mobile computing device having a processor and graphical user interface) is described. The method comprises receiving image data that includes a digital photograph of an elongated tension indicator of an elastic bandage; analyzing the image data to determine elongation of the elastic bandage by comparing geometric features of the elongated tension indicator to model geometric features that define a predetermined elongation state (such as an unelongated state); and providing output indicia associated with the determined elongation. Also described are various articles, some of which are intermediate articles of the methods described herein. Such articles include non-transient computer readable medium, a three-dimensional member comprising at least one layer of certain elastic bandages. In one embodiment, the elastic bandage comprises a tension indicator and a computer readable code.

In order to assist in evaluating/monitoring pain, a touch-sensitive graphics tool (TG) is provided with a local application (TGapps) for displaying a graphical representation of a patient's body, on which the patient can delimit a zone. A control application cooperates with the local application (TGapps) in order to record each delimited zone together with the corresponding surface data. The control application is configured to control a patient auto-calibration function that can determine deviations between a plurality of target points designated by contact on the patient's physical body and the corresponding points that the patient points to on the graphical representation displayed on the screen. The delimitation by the patient of a zone on the graphical representation is altered according to the patient auto-calibration deviations.

The present invention further combined interpolation method can reduce the computation time and retain the 80% accuracy.

Methods and electronic devices for performing color-based reaction testing of biological materials. The method includes capturing and interpreting digital images of an unexposed and later exposed paddle at various delay times within an automatically calibrated environment. The test paddle includes a unique identification mechanism (UID), a Reference Color Bar (RCB) providing samples of standardized colors for image color calibration, compensation and corrections, and several test-specific sequences of Chemical Test Pads (CTP). The method further includes locating the paddle in the image, extracting the UID and validating the paddle, extracting the RCB and locating the plurality of CTP in each image. The method further reduces image noise in the CTP and calibrates the image automatically according to lighting measurements performed on the RCB. To determine test results, the method further determines several distances between the CTP and its possible trajectory in the color space described by the Manufacturer Interpretation Color Chart.

The system also comprises a camera for generating images and a mechanical linkage is configured to attach said camera to the proximal portion of said tool such that said camera moves together with said proximal portion of said tool, and said camera is directed with a field of view toward at least part of said distal end of said tool. The field of view includes the markers when the patch is applied or attached to the external surface of the body and the distal end of the tool is inserted into the body. The system further comprises a processing system in data communication with said camera and configured to obtain from the camera images of the external surface of the body including the plurality of said markers, and configured to process the images from said camera to determine a position of at last part of said tool relative to the markers. Furthermore, a method for guiding a distal end of a rigid or semi-flexible tool to a target within a body is provided.
