A method is implemented by a network element to provide scalable hierarchical traffic management (HTM) over a plurality of network layers for a network and eliminate priority leaking caused by quick loopback batch scheduling that analyzes a subset of network layers to shorten processing time and resource requirements when the scalable HTM selects data packets to be forwarded. The method and system function as a low pass filter over the selected data packets to prevent low priority data packets being forwarded where higher priority data packets are available to be forwarded.

A hub node in a wavelength division multiplexed optical network automatically discovers at least one of new client-side optical ports and new edge-side optical ports. The hub node comprises a wavelength switch network, port discovery equipment, and a controller. The wavelength switch network routes any wavelength channel that does not support a matching pair of client-side and edge-side ports to port discovery equipment at the hub node. The port discovery equipment searches for new ports, and, responsive to finding a new port, automatically discovers a predefined set of one or more attributes of the new port. The controller determines that a client-side port and an edge-side port are a matching pair of ports if discovered sets of attributes of those ports match according to one or more predefined rules. The controller then controls the wavelength switch network to re-route the wavelength channel supporting that matching pair between those ports.

A method performed by a digital subscriber line access multiplexer,DSLAM, comprises detecting a loss of signal or disconnect event of a line in a vectored group of DSL lines,the loss of signal or disconnect event causing a negative impact on the DSL system. The method further comprises detecting a change in at least one downstream, DS, crosstalk coefficient of at least one line in said vectored group of DSL lines. The method further comprises determining a magnitude of said change. The method further comprises determining where the loss of signal or disconnect event has occurred by processing precoding coefficients of the vectored group of DSL lines. The method further comprises determining,on basis of the determined magnitude and where the loss of signal or disconnect event has occurred, an action to be performed by the DSLAM so as to mitigate for said negative impact.

The method comprises obtaining (405) a current measurement value I from a measurement of an input or an output current of a victim unit (210) associated with the SPD (300a; 300b). Based on the current measurement value I a determination is made whether to initiate a voltage limitation in the SPD (300a; 300b). In case it is determined to initiate the voltage limitation, the voltage limitation is initiated. An SPD (300; 300b) configured for corresponding operation is also provided. A discovered advantage is that input/output current of a victim unit is much less sensitive to impedance clamping effects compared to SPD voltages. A detection of surge conditions becomes more reliable.

Advantageously, a PCB with a lower height than realisable with known fully interleaved planar magnetic transformer designs is provided. The reduced height improves the thermal conductivity of the PCB, the flux leakage is reduced and good magnetic coupling between the primary and secondary sides is maintained.

When receiving (2: 1 ) a VM image from a client (202) with a set of files of an operating system for running the virtual machine, the cloud management node distributes (2:2a-d) the VM image (204b) to a plurality of local data centers (204) forming the distributed cloud. In return, the cloud management node receives local identifications of the VM image from the local data centers, and creates (2:3) a mapping (200a) between the received local identifications and a global identification of the VM image. The global identification is then returned (2:4) to the client, thereby enabling the client to change the VM image in the local data centers by referring to the global identification in communication with the cloud management node.
