Abstract:
The invention relates to a boiling water reactor for an exothermal reaction. The reactor comprises reactant by-pass inserts arranged on top of the upper tube sheet to provide for a catalyst layer on top of the upper tube sheet and also a cooling stream of reactant by-passing the upper layer of catalyst and cooling the upper tube sheet from the temperature rise due to the exothermal reaction taking place in the upper layer of catalyst.
Abstract:
A catalyst-containing ceramic dust filter for off-gas or exhaust gas cleaning is prepared by a method comprising the steps of making a water-based impregnation slurry, which comprises a catalytically effective amount of at least one catalytically active metal and an oxide support, to form a catalytically active metal oxide support, impregnating the filter substrate with the impregnation slurry, spraying from the inside to control the amount of liquor while leaving the outer few millimeters of the filter wall dry, and drying the impregnated filter. The impregnated filter is preferably dried by using microwave energy.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates in a broad form to a pseudo-isothermal flow reactor (100) for an exothermal reaction comprising at least two reaction enclosures (108, 114) and a cooling medium enclosure (102) configured to hold a cooling medium under pressure at the boiling point of said cooling medium, said reaction enclosures (108, 114) having an outer surface configured to be in thermal contact with the cooling medium, and each of said reaction enclosures (108, 114) having an inlet and an outlet with the associated benefit of enabling a two-stage pseudo-isothermal operation while only requiring a single cooling medium enclosure (102) and only single cooling medium circuit.
Abstract:
A waste heat boiler has heat exchange tubes for indirect heat exchange of a relatively hot process gas and a cooling media, and a by-pass tube for by-passing a part of the process gas; a swirl mixer ensures mixing of the cooled process gas and the relative hot process gas exiting the heat exchange tubes and the by-pass tube.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a mixing device mounted between two catalyst beds in a multi-bed catalytic reactor with a cylindrical shape, said mixing device has a circular outer rim which corresponds to the inner wall of the reactor, the mixing device comprises; collecting means disposed in a collecting section for collecting fluid from an up- stream catalytic bed, mixing means disposed in a mixing section for mixing the collected fluid, and discharging means disposed in a discharging section for discharging the mixed fluid to a down-stream catalytic bed; wherein the collecting section, the mixing section and the discharging section are disposed outside the center of the circular cross-section of the reactor, as well as associated methods for mixing and the use of such a mixing device in catalytic reactors.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a process and a process plant for production of methanol in a pseudo-isothermal flow reactor for comprising at least two reaction enclosures and a cooling medium enclosure configured to hold a cooling medium under pressure at a temperature proximate to the boiling point of said cooling medium, said reaction enclosures having an outer surface configured to be in thermal contact with the cooling medium, and each of said reaction enclosures having an inlet and an outlet with the associated benefit of enabling a two-stage pseudo-isothermal operation while only requiring a single cooling medium enclosure and only single cooling medium circuit.
