    摘要: A multi-link variable compression ratio engine is provided with a crankshaft (12), a piston (11), a control shaft (20), a linkage, a motor (35) and a reduction mechanism. The crankshaft (12) moves the piston (11) within an engine cylinder. The control shaft (20) has an eccentric axle eccentric relative to its center-axis. The linkage operatively connects the piston to the crankshaft and the crankshaft (12) to the eccentric axle of the control shaft (20). The motor (35) rotates the control shaft (20) so a top-dead-center position of the piston (11) changes to vary compression ratios by changing the positions of the eccentric axle and the linkage. The reduction mechanism (30) couples the motor (35) to the control shaft (20) to transmit a reduced rotation of the motor to the control shaft so a reduction ratio of a rotation angle of the motor to a rotation angle of the control shaft is less at high-compression ratios than at intermediate compression ratios.

A thickness of the small end of the link arm in a direction of the drive shaft is thinner than a thickness of the large end of the link arm in the direction of the drive shaft.

    摘要: In a VVA apparatus for an internal combustion engine wherein the position of contact of a cam face of a VO cam with respect to the top face of a valve lifter is changed in accordance with a change in a rocking fulcrum of a rocker arm to alter the valve lift, the maximum valve lift is obtained in a first rotated position of a control shaft where an axis of a control cam is adjacent to a driving shaft. The minimum valve lift is obtained in a second rotated position of the control shaft where the axis of the control cam is positioned near a first pivotal point of the rocker arm and a crank arm with respect to a first line connecting the axis of the control shaft and the axis of the control cam upon the maximum valve lift.
