Disclosed is a method and a system for determining a cornering angle of a tyre fitted on a vehicle during a running of said vehicle on a rolling surface. The method comprises the steps of: determining the lateral acceleration of a portion of the tyre tread spaced apart from the equatorial plane of said tyre; determining a rotation speed of said tyre; and determining said cornering angle from said lateral acceleration and said radial speed, by using characteristic curves of lateral acceleration amplitude versus predetermined values of cornering angle for at least one rotation speed.

The invention relates to a method, a system and a pneumatic wheel for measuring the deformations of the casing of a tyre in operation, for the purpose of taking appropriate corrective action on the vehicle driving and/or control system by comparing the said measured deformations with predetermined values of the deformations. More specifically, the method implements the steps of: measuring the extent of the characteristic deformations of the casing profile of at least one tyre fitted on the vehicle, at a given inflation pressure, comparing the values of these characteristic deformations with stored values representing the behaviour of the tyre in the measured state of deformation, generating a signal for acting on at least one device regulating at least one mechanism for controlling the attitude of the said vehicle in motion, corresponding to the action which has to be taken on the said mechanism to keep the said behaviour of the vehicle within the limits of a predetermined behaviour or to bring it back within these limits.

An air tube (12) of elastomer material for tyres is described, which is divided into at least two parts by an internal wall (19) extending in the equatorial plane and delimiting a central core (20) and two sidewalls (21) in said air tube. The core is formed of the above wall from the ends of which two flanges (22, 23) issued perpendicularly to the wall itself issue perpendicularly to the partition itself, in opposite directions, over a predetermined length; the flange and sidewall ends are associated with each other by vulcanization and the core rigidity is greater than the sidewall rigidity. The air tube performs the function of supporting the tyre not only during normal running but also under deflated conditions, as in the case of a puncture in one of the two air tube parts, for example. In particular, the air tube is advantageously used with 'low-section' tyres (1) as it has such features that it expands within the available space between the tyre and related mounting rim.
