摘要: An exhaust gas purification apparatus for an internal combustion engine comprises: a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst selectively reducing NOx in an exhaust gas of the internal combustion engine using ammonia as a reducing agent; a supply device adding an additive agent, such as ammonia, to the exhaust gas at an upstream side of the SCR catalyst; and a controller, when a temperature of SCR catalyst is higher than a predetermined temperature, increases a NOx concentration of the exhaust gas flowing into the SCR catalyst and increases an amount of addition of the additive agent in such a manner that a ratio of an amount of ammonia with respect to an amount of NOx contained in the exhaust gas flowing into the SCR catalyst, becomes large, as compared to when the temperature is equal to or less than the predetermined temperature.

摘要: An additive agent is supplied in a suitable manner. In an exhaust gas purification apparatus for an internal combustion engine which is provided with an exhaust gas purification catalyst (4) arranged in an exhaust passage (2) of an internal combustion engine (1), a tank (32) storing an additive agent in a solid or liquid state, a vaporization device (38) to vaporize the additive agent by heating the same, a supply passage (31) connecting between the tank (32) and the exhaust passage (2) at the upstream side of the exhaust gas purification catalyst (4), with a gaseous additive agent flowing therethrough, provision is made for a dilution device (5) to dilute the gaseous additive agent with another gas in the supply passage (31), and a metering device (3) to adjust in the supply passage (31) an amount of the additive agent to be supplied from the supply passage (31) to the exhaust passage (2) after being diluted by the dilution device (5).

摘要: A wall flow type particulate filter (24) is arranged inside the exhaust passage of an internal combustion engine where combustion is performed under an excess of oxygen. The particulate filter carries a solid acid. The solid acid has an acid strength which is higher than the acid strength of sulfurous acid and lower than the acid strength of sulfuric acid. To remove the ash from the particulate filter, ash atomization processing for rendering the state of the particulate filter a state where the exhaust gas which flows into the particulate filter is lowered in concentration of oxygen and the particulate filter is raised in temperature is temporarily performed.
