Introducing an organic precursor gas for a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) period to a crystalline zeolite that is maintained at a CVD temperature forms the carbon-zeolite composite. Introducing a non-reactive gas for a thermal treatment period to the carbon-zeolite composite maintained at a thermal treatment temperature forms the thermally-treated carbon-zeolite composite. Introducing an aqueous strong mineral acid mixture to the thermally-treated carbon-zeolite composite forms the methane microporous carbon adsorbent.

The invention relates to a container comprising a wall (2) which forms a receiving chamber (3) and separates said chamber from the environment (4). The receiving chamber (3) contains a treatment agent, in particular a desiccant and the wall (2) has a grid (5, 5') provided with grid openings (6), by means of which the treatment agent can come into contact with a substance in the environment (4). The grid (5, 5') is an injection-moulded plastic part and said grid (5, 5') has a first and a second grid face (11, 12), the first grid face (11) being formed by a first grid section (13) constituting a layer and the second grid face (12) being formed by a second grid section (14) constituting a layer. First linear depressions (15) are formed in the first grid face (11) and second linear depressions (16) are formed in the second grid face (12), the first and second linear depressions (15, 16) intersecting in intersection regions. The grid openings (6) are formed in the intersection regions of the first and second depressions (15, 16). The invention is characterised in that the second linear depressions (16) are not arranged in parallel.

A method and apparatus for removing water from compressed air is disclosed. The method includes the steps of passing a stream of compressed air through a pressure swing adsorption (PSA) dryer. The dryer includes at least one vessel containing a desiccant material bound into pieces, for example tubes, using a polymer binder. The PSA dryer also has a control system for controlling the flow of the compressed air and switching between drying and purging modes. In particular the vessel and desiccant material contained therein are sized to produce a dew point suppression of less than 50° C.
