Methods and systems for an integrated acid regeneration of ion exchange resins are disclosed for use in cleaning applications. Acid resins designed for use in a variety of cleaning application using a treated, softened, acidic water source are disclosed. Various methods of using the softened acidic water generated by acid regenerate-able ion exchange resins within a cleaning application, e.g. ware wash machine, are disclosed to beneficially reduce spotting, filming and scale buildup on treated surfaces, reduce and/or eliminate the need for polymers, threshold reagents and/or rinse aids, and using protons generated in the acidic water effluent for triggering events useful in various cleaning applications.

[Problems] To provide a calcium removal method capable of reducing operation cost. [Means for Solving Problems] A solution L2 containing potassium or/and sodium, and calcium is passed through an ion-exchange resin 35 to separate the solution into a solution containing potassium or/and the sodium, and a solution containing calcium. Operation cost can remarkably be decreased since potassium carbonate is not required to remove calcium as before. Timing for changing a calcium-containing water L3 and a salt water L4 discharged from the ion-exchange resin can be performed based on at least one measurement result selected from the group consisting of: a calcium or chlorine concentration; electrical conductivity; and pH of a fluid which is discharged from said ion-exchange resin. The invention relates to a method of preparing a liquid mixture with a predetermined pH value without using a pH meter by adding and reducing controlled amounts of buffer components, preferably in liquid form, to said liquid mixture; and stop adding and reducing buffer components when a specific conductivity value is obtained, wherein the reduction and addition of buffer components is done in such a way as to maintain the buffer concentration constant and wherein said specific conductivity value corresponds to the predetermined pH value of said liquid, and wherein said specific conductivity value is correlated to said predetermined pH value and the buffer concentration by a mathematical model. The apparatus for carrying out the method comprises, in an operatively and functionally intercoupled relationship, means for supplying the wetting water, means for filtering the supplied wetting water, designed to provide an actively filtered wetting water, magnetic means adapted to subject the filtered wetting water to a continuous and strong magnetic processing, pH controlling means, adapted to control the wetting water pH at a preset acid pH value, and means adapted to control the wetting water electrical conductivity at a set conductivity value.
