An on-line automated analyzer of macrocontaminants is described. The analyzer is for a pulp and/or a white water stream, the analyzer comprises: a pulp classifier separating a sample from the stream into a fraction of macrocontaminants; a contaminant chamber enclosing a contaminant cell receiving the fraction; an optical chamber comprising an optical detector connected to the cell capturing at least one detected image; and a control chamber taking the at least one detected image and conducting an image analysis to determine type and quantity of at least one macrocontaminant in the fraction. The method of analysis of macrocontaminants is also described herein, the method comprises: separating a sample from the stream into a fraction of macrocontaminants; producing at least one detected image by optical measurement of the fraction; and analyzing the at least one detected image and determining the quantity and type of at least one macrocontaminant in the fraction.

A monitored release solid feed system having a solid chemical feed tank, a storage tank located below the solid chemical feed tank, and an automated valve. The solid chemical feed tank is loaded with a blend of inhibitors and an indicator-chemical in a solid form. A detector measures the amount of indicator in the recirculating water and periodically compares it to a setpoint. If the value is below the setpoint, the automated valve opens allowing water to pass through the storage tank and the solid chemical feed tank thus carrying inhibitors and a proportional amount of indicator-chemical into the recirculating system.

The present invention relates to a method for degrading and inactivating at least one xenobiotic, said at least one xenobiotic being present in an aqueous medium. Said method comprises the steps of (a) incubating a laccase extracted from Pleurotus ostreatus into said aqueous medium and, (b) measuring the evolution of the concentration of said at least one xenobiotic. Said method is remarkable in that said laccase extracted from Pleurotus ostreatus is used in its pure form.

Methods and systems for an integrated acid regeneration of ion exchange resins are disclosed for use in cleaning applications. Acid resins designed for use in a variety of cleaning application using a treated, softened, acidic water source are disclosed. Various methods of using the softened acidic water generated by acid regenerate-able ion exchange resins within a cleaning application, e.g. ware wash machine, are disclosed to beneficially reduce spotting, filming and scale buildup on treated surfaces, reduce and/or eliminate the need for polymers, threshold reagents and/or rinse aids, and using protons generated in the acidic water effluent for triggering events useful in various cleaning applications.

The subject of the present invention is a mobile unit for the treatment of raw water. It relates to the technical field of mobile installations and processes for potabilizing raw water for the purpose of providing an immediate solution to supplying drinking water to the heart of regions to be treated as being difficult to access. According to the invention, the mobile unit comprises: - a pumping means (5) for pumping the raw water (4) to be treated, connected to a supply circuit (6); - a transportable container (1) provided with said supply circuit and containing: a system (8) for analyzing the characteristics of the raw water to be treated, a first treatment module (9) for treating soft surface water or drilling water, a second treatment module (10) for treating brackish water or sea water, a third treatment module (11) for treating raw water contaminated by nuclear, radiological, biological and/or chemical (NRBC) agents and a device (15, 16, 120, 121, 122, 123, 124) suitable for directing the flow of raw water to be treated through said treatment modules according to the analyzed characteristics of the raw water. These characteristics allow the mobile unit to be rapidly modified so as to offer suitable treatment according to the characteristics of the raw water and thus obtain water of optimum quality.

The invention relates to a device for purifying water, in particular for the continuous purification of water in the paper industry, said device comprising at least one supply line (21) and at least one drain line (25) for the water. The device also comprises a compression device (28) for at least one sub-stream of the water, an injection device (13) for injecting at least one gas and an expansion device (29) for expanding at least one sub-stream of the water. In addition, the device comprises a unit for separating (30) different phases of the water for purification. The device is characterised by a control system, which detects at least one parameter of the water and controls at least the addition (12, 12') of at least one additive in accordance with the process parameter.
