The invention relates to a fuel tank that is composed of plastic and that has installations. In order to functionally improve the fuel tank and to simplify the manufacturing, a shaped piece (15) is attached to the inside of the wall (1) of the fuel tank and connected to the fuel tank in a bonded manner. The shaped piece (15) is a flat component that has an open three-dimensional shape and forms at least one channel (17) and/or tank together with the plastic shell (1). The shaped piece (15) is welded all around to the plastic shell (1), wherein a welding flange (20) forming a closed curve follows the contour of the channel (17). A method for producing a plastic product including an axially extending portion (15), such as a duct or pipe, and a radially extending portion, such as a flange or bracket, is provided. A parison is placed in a first mold cavity defined in a mold and blow molded to form the axially extending potion, and then a movable mold segment (13,14) is moved to a retracted position to define a second mold cavity (18) adjacent to a part of an outer peripheral surface of the axially extending portion thus formed. Then, a second molted plastic material (19) is supplied into the second mold cavity (18) and the movable mold segment (13,14) is again moved to another predetermined position to pressurize the second plastic material to thereby form a radially extending portion. The resulting hollow plastic product is extremely high in structural integrity between the axially (15) and radially extending portions.

The present invention relates to a molding process by superimposed injection and blowing regarding the field of mechanical engineering applied to the processing of thermoplastic polymer materials. The proposed process allows the combination of injection molding superimposed with blowing molding. The injection of superimposed material may occur before, simultaneously, or after the blowing process. Combining these two processes allows obtaining a piece consisting in one or more thermoplastic raw materials of polymer matrix, taking advantage of each process at the same time. This process can be carried out using only a mould, allowing the production of pieces with characteristics of each of the processes in a single molding cycle. It also allows obtaining plastic pieces combining the features of each process. The raw material used for the second injection may be equal to the raw material used in the first injection, but may also be different providing different color or other physical distinctive characteristics to the final product.

The invention relates to a method for the riveted fastening of an accessory to a plastics fuel tank (11, 12), the riveted fastening taking place at the time of the production of the tank by extrusion blow-moulding of a split tubular preform or two web-like extruded preforms made of thermoplastic material by using a multi-part die after or during the moulding of two complementary shells. The accessory (4) has been provided or is provided with at least one opening. The method according to the invention is characterized in that the riveted fastening takes place by means of at least one prefabricated rivet pin (9) made of thermoplastic material. The rivet pin has been obtained in a separate production process, for example by injection-moulding.

Process for manufacturing a plastic fuel tank (FT) equipped with an internal accessory, by moulding a parison using a mould comprising two cavities and a core, said process comprising the following steps : 1. the parison is introduced into the mould cavities; 2. the core is introduced inside the parison, said core having first been fitted with the accessory; 3. the mould is closed so that the cavities come into leaktight contact with the core; 4. the parison is pressed against the cavities by blowing through the core and/or applying a vacuum behind the cavities; 5. the accessory is fastened to the parison by snap riveting using a device attached to the core; 6. the mould is opened to withdraw the core; and 7. the final moulding of the parison is carried out by blow moulding (by injecting a pressurized fluid inside the parison) and/or thermoforming (by applying a vacuum behind the cavities), in which the accessory comprises an orifice for the snap riveting (5) and at least one protuberance, for which the constituent material, the dimensions and the position are such that during the fastening of the accessory by snap riveting, this protuberance will at least partially melt to form a local weld which is at another location than the obtained rivet so as to obtain two different attachment points.
