The present invention provides a torque sensor device disposed between an input shaft and an output shaft and configured to detect a torque between the input shaft and the output shaft through a relative rotation displacement therebetween. The torque sensor device includes: a housing configured to accommodate an end of the input shaft and an end of the output shaft and fixed in position to be able to perform a relative rotation with respect to the input shaft and the output shaft: a magnet unit accommodated in the housing and including a magnet ring connected to one end of one of the input shaft and the output shaft so as to be rotatably accommodated in the housing; a collector unit fixed in position to the housing in such a manner as to be disposed at the outside of the magnet unit, and configured to focus a magnetic field generated from the magnet unit; a sensing unit including a torque sensor disposed at the outer circumference of the collector unit and configured to detect the magnetic field focused by the collector unit; and a shield ring unit interposed between the collector unit and the magnet unit in such a manner as to be connected to one end of the other of the input shaft and the output shaft, and configured to change the magnetic field from the magnet unit, which is focused by the collector unit, by means of the relative rotation between the input shaft and the output shaft

A steering apparatus comprises a rotatable steering shaft and a sensor which senses angular movement of the steering shaft. An electromagnetic actuator actuates a stop mechanism to releasable engage the steering shaft. There is a microcontroller which causes the electromagnetic actuator to actuate the stop mechanism to fully engage the steering shaft and prevent rotation of the steering shaft in a first rotational direction, which corresponds to movement towards the hardstop position, while allowing rotational play between the steering shaft and the stop mechanism in a second direction, which corresponds to rotational movement away from the hardstop position, when the sensor senses that the steering shaft has reached a hardstop position. A driver applies a reserve polarity pulse to the electromagnetic actuator when the stop mechanism is fully engaged and the steering shaft is rotated, as permitted by the rotational play, in the second rotational direction.

A method in a steering fault detection system for detection of a steering fault of a vehicle, the vehicle comprises a active driver steering support (ADSS) system adapted to assist steering the vehicle at least in dependence of one environmental signal, e.g. a camera signal, and to generate a steering assist control signal to a steering servo system of the vehicle (step A), wherein said steering assist control signal includes one or many steering assist control values. The method comprises: B - applying said steering assist control signal to said steering fault detection system; C - analysing said steering assist control values in relation to predetermined ideal steering assist control values, and D - generating an indication signal in dependence of said analysis, wherein said indication signal includes steering fault information.
