Disclosed are hydrophobic compositions useful for filling the voids within jacketed optical fiber cables. The compositions include about 85 to 95 parts by weight of mineral oil, 5 to 15 parts by weight of a (styrene) - (ethylene/propylene) diblock copolymer having a styrene: (ethylene/propylene) ratio of 37.5:62.5 to 27.5:72.5 and a specific gravity of about 0.90 to 0.95, optional antioxidant, and optional metal deactivator.

The present invention relates to a polymer thickened lubricating grease composition with improved resistance to high operating temperatures (constant and/or peak), comprising
1) a lubricating base oil 2) a polymeric thickener, comprising
2a) a high melting point component comprising at least one polymer with a melting point (ASTM D-2117) of more than 200°C, especially more than 225°C, and 2b) a low molecular weight component comprising a (co- or homo-) polymer of propylene with a weight average molecular weight
3) optionally further additives known per se.
The grease preferably further comprises
2c) a high molecular weight component comprising a (co- or homo-) polymer of propylene with a weight average molecular weight >200.000.
The grease preferably has a dropping point of >150°C, more preferably 180-220°C, and is suitable for use in high operating temperature applications.

The present invention relates to a polymer thickener for lubricant grease compositions, wherein the thickener comprises a mixture of (1) a high molecular weight (co- or homo-)polymer of propylene with a weight average molecular weight ≧ 200,000 and (2) a low molecular weight (co- or homo-)polymer of propylene with a weight average molecular weight ≦ 100,000. The invention further relates to a lubricating grease composition comprising a lubricating oil and the above polymeric thickener, as well as a method for preparing said grease composition. Also, the invention relates to the use of such a polymer thickener in the preparation of lubricating grease compositions with improved oil bleeding characteristics at low temperature and improved noise characteristics and/or improved mechanical stability.

The Viscosity Index of the lubricant composition, as measured in accordance with ASTM D 2270- 10el, is greater than that of the non silicone lubricant base oil (A) by at least 10% and is shear stable according to DIN 51350-6.

The description relates to a filler for electrical and optical devices like cables, strips, plugs, etc., which is characterized by containing a material with a star-shaped molecular structure. Such includes especially an oligo-dec-1-en with a degree of oligomerisation of 3 and over. If to this is added finely divided silicic acid and a high-molecular polyolefine or a viscosity improver like hydrated polyisoprene, fillers are obtained having improved thermal properties like cone penetration at -50 °C and leak resistance up to +80 °C.

A lubricant for a run-flat tire system includes a water soluble, or water-miscible carrier, a thickener, and a surfactant. The thickener hereof retains its rheological properties and is not subject to permanent thinning shear. The base fluid is, preferably, a water-soluble polyhydroxyl or other polyhydric compound and the thickener is preferably a clay. When admixed with a surfactant and, optionally, a lubricity agent, the lubricant exhibits long term stability and (is resistant to heat buildup.) prevents the buildup of heat in the tire assembly when the tire is in the run flat condition.
