摘要: A coupler for translating a rotational force, including first and second rotational elements. The first rotational element defines a first pocket. The second rotational element is in axial alignment therewith and defines a second pocket facing the first pocket. The first pocket and the second pocket define a dampening chamber therebetween that varies in volume based on the overlap thereof. A fluid is positioned in the dampening chamber. A portion of the fluid is dispelled from the dampening chamber when the first rotational element rotates relative to the second rotational element and decreases the volume of the dampening chamber.

摘要: A valvetrain for translating force and oil between a valve and intermediate member of an engine, including a rocker, a shaft, and a recess. The rocker has an inner surface, a pad for engaging the valve, a socket for engaging the intermediate member, a socket port defined in the surface, and a socket channel extending from the socket port to the socket. The shaft has a bearing surface for supporting the rocker, a channel spaced from the bearing surface, a feed port in the bearing surface, and a feed channel extending from the feed port to the channel. The rocker rotates between: closed, with the socket port and feed port aligned; and open, with the socket port spaced from the feed port. A recess is disposed in the bearing surface adjacent to the feed port and extends to a base aligned with the socket port when the rocker is open.

A part load mode which is optimized for slow steaming for an engine load up to an upper part load limit in the range from 40 % to 75% of a maximum engine load is provided. Additionally, a high load mode for an engine load above the upper part load limit is provided. In part load mode, at least one inlet valve (4) is closed at a closing angle later than in the high load mode.

The first upper bearing seat half (4) and the second upper bearing seat half (5) are integrally molded on the first case half (3), and the first lower bearing seat half (9) and the second lower bearing seat half (10) are integrally molded on the second case half (8). An outer side surface of the first case half (3) and a side cover (21) form a valve-operating chamber (26) for receiving a valve-operating mechanism (30).

摘要: A valve operating mechanism is described for an internal combustion engine in which at least one valve (14) of an engine cylinder is operated by two cams (10,12). The cams (10,12) have respective cam followers (38,36) which are resiliently biased to remain in contact with the cams (10,12) at all times and which act on the valve (14) by way of a summation linkage (20,24) in such a manner that the displacement of the valve (14) at any instant is determined by a combination of the displacements of the two cam followers (38,36). In the invention, movement of each of the two cam followers (38,36) is transmitted to the summation linkage (20,24) by way of a respective one of two pushrods (28,30).

Slipper portions (48) of first and second exhaust cam followers (43a, 43b) have end portions at one end along the axial direction of the camshaft (38), protrude respectively in the opposite directions to each other so that they face each other across an exhaust cam (38e) therebetween. This reduces the distance between the push rods (44a, 44b, 45a, 45b) in each bank to provide a compact valve-operating device.
