Embodiments include a method of detecting obscuration of an optical window in an IR imaging system, the IR imaging system comprising processing circuitry and a plurality of spatially and spectrally distinct optical channels, each optical channel including a set of lenses that focus incident IR light on a respective portion of an optical detector system, the method comprising: with the processing circuitry, analyzing a first image and a second image, received from respective first and second optical channels of the plurality of spatially and spectrally distinct optical channels, to detect obscuration that may degrade operation of the IR imaging system; with the processing circuitry, creating first and second gradient images from the first and second images, respectively; with the processing circuitry, cross-correlating the first and second gradient images; and with the processing circuitry, determining that at least one cross-correlation between the first and second gradient images exceeds a first window obscuration threshold and that the first and second gradient images exceed a second window obscuration threshold and, in response, providing an alert that the optical window is obscured.

The device includes a radiation collection and transmission element for collecting flame radiation and transmitting it to detection elements, a flame sensor element for the detection of radiation and conversion of the detected radiation into electrical signals, and an evaluation unit for the conversion of the electrical signals into flame parameters. The flame sensor element can include at least two individual detectors each with an individual central detection wavelength and a width of observation window, respectively. The individual central detection wavelength and the width of observation window are not overlapping and are covering individual regions of interest of the spectrum of radiation.

A non-contact infrared (IR) thermometer for measuring temperature from the surface of an object includes an IR radiation sensor attached to a heating element and a thermal shield having an interior surface positioned within the sensor's field of view that has a high emissivity. An electronic circuit controlling the heating element maintains the temperatures of the sensor and shield substantially close to an anticipated surface temperature of the object. The IR radiation sensor is further thermally coupled to a reference temperature sensor. An optical system positioned in front of the shield focuses thermal radiation from the object on the surface of the sensor, while the shield prevents stray radiation from reaching the sensor. Signals from the IR and reference sensors are used to calculate the object's surface temperature.
