Next, requesting authorization to perform cache flush of the cached first storage volume data to the first online storage cloud. Upon receiving approval of the authorization, encrypting the cached first storage volume data in each of the one or more buffer blocks with a data private key. Next, assigning metadata comprising at lest a unique identifier to each of the one or more buffer blocks and then encrypting the metadata with a metadata private key. Next, transmitting the one or more buffer blocks with the encrypted first storage volume data to the first online cloud storage. Next, creating a sequence of updates of the metadata, encrypting the sequence with the metadata private key and then transmitting the sequence of metadata updates to the first online storage cloud.

The present invention relates to a method and node for efficiently distributing electronic content in a content distribution network (CDN) comprising a plurality of cache nodes. Embodiments of the present invention include a virtual node logically representing a set of cache nodes. The set of cache nodes is in turn defined based on an internal communication cost between the cache nodes. In each of the cache nodes represented by the virtual node statistics regarding content requests is collected, and based on this statistics it is determined whether specific content is to be cached in the virtual node or not. If it is determined to cache specific content in the virtual node, the specific content may be caused to be cached in one or more of the cache nodes represented by the virtual node.

Disclosed are apparatus and methods for facilitating caching in a storage area network (SAN). In general, data transfer traffic between one or more hosts and one or more memory portions in one or more storage device(s) is redirected to one or more cache modules. One or more network devices (e.g., switches) of the SAN can be configured to redirect data transfer for a particular memory portion of one or more storage device(s) to a particular cache module. As needed, data transfer traffic for any number of memory portions and storage devices can be identified for or removed from being redirected to a particular cache module. Also, any number of cache modules can be utilized for receiving redirected traffic so that such redirected traffic is divided among such cache modules in any suitable proportion for enhanced flexibility.
