摘要:
Growth differentiation factor-3 (GDF-3) is disclosed along with its polynucleotide sequence and ammo acid sequence. Also disclosed are diagnostic and therapeutic methods of using the GDF-3 polypeptide and polynucleotide sequences.

The invention relates to a method by which new antigens from vector-borne pathogens may be discovered and analyzed by incubating the viable pathogens in the saliva of their vector host. Three such antigens, proteins with the approximate molecular weights of 19, 22 and 24 kDa, have been discovered and analyzed from a strain of B. burgdorferi T-15. The proteins provide a route for the development of immunodiagnostics for Lyme disease and related disorders. The proteins and related amino acids and DNA sequences may also be used for the immunization, for the detection of B. burgdorfei in human or body fluids, and also for the generation of specific antibodies for use in diagnosis, epidemiology, prevention of and treatment of Lyme disease.

The invention identifies the CTLA4 receptor as a ligand for the B7 antigen. The complete amino acid sequence encoding human CTLA4 receptor gene is provided. Methods are provided for expressing CTLA4 as an immunoglobulin fusion protein, for preparing hybrid CTLA4 fusion proteins, and for using the soluble fusion proteins, fragments and derivatives thereof, including monoclonal antibodies reactive with B7 and CTLA4, to regulate T cell interactions and immune responses mediated by such interactions.

Polypeptides are provided having trans-sialidase enzymatic activity in substantially pure form, nucleic acids coding therefor, antibodies specific for such polypeptides, processes for producing the enzyme and methods of use of the enzyme, in particular for the synthesis of sialyl alpha (2->3)-linked saccharides, glycoproteins and glycolipids. Such enzymes are isolatable as nucleic acid or amino acid sequences from parasites of the genus Trypanosoma.

Bone-associated proteins derived from bone of mammals including mice, human beings, named OSF-6. The protein is the novel natural type mammal protein which can play an important role in bone formation and belongs to a group of transcription control factors. OSF-6 can be used as a therapeutic agent for bone metabolic diseases and also as a diagnostic agent for bone metabolic diseases since it may demonstrate a high organ specificity to bone.
