摘要:
This invention relates to the beneficiation of coal and more particularly to an improved process for the beneficiation of coal and separation of impurities therefrom and the formation of stable beneficiated coal mixtures, such as coal oil mixtures. Further more an arrangement for producing beneficiated coal product is described.
摘要:
A process for the preparation of microorganisms, ATCC No. 39 327 which are capable of reproducible reduction of sulfur, particularly organic sulfur, in coal wherein the novel microorganisms are grown in situ enriched with sulfur compounds and subsequently grown in the presence of a coal substrate and nutrient medium while maintaining an essentially neutral pH. Contacting an aqueous coal slurry with the novel microorganism of the present invention provides coal having reduced organic sulfur content.
摘要:
Aqueous slurries of fine coal are dewatered by a process which comprises mixing an organopolysiloxane with the slurry, separating the slurry to recover the fine coal and further drying the fine coal, if desired. The use of water-soluble organopolysiloxanes or water-emulsifiable organopolysiloxanes provides improved separating and/or improved drying of fine coal in the dewatering process that is disclosed.
摘要:
A process for the production of beneficiated coal and coal slurries having low ash, and sulfur involving admixing coal in an aqueous medium, under high shear agitation, with a polymerizable monomer, and a liquid organic carrier thereby rendering said coal highly hydrophobic and oleophilic.

This specification discloses a greatly simplified method and system for recovering coal from a particulate coal bearing slurry (1) in which an appropriate hydrophobic liquid or emulsion of hydrophobic liquid in water (2) is introduced into the inlet of a centrifugal turbulent flow slurry pump (3) simultaneously with the introduction of said coal bearing slurry to said pump inlet, said hydrophobic liquid being introduced in a quantity sufficient to achieve substantially intimate contact between said hydrophobic liquid and coal particles in said slurry whereby the coal may be separated from the slurry by discharging the slurry from the pump directly over a simple static screen or other suitable separating device (4) whereupon the separated coal matter (5) may be collected for subsequent use. If desired, the coal within said slurry may be additionally agitated in any suitable manner, such as by means of an in-line flow promoting device (7) which causes additional contact between the agglomerates produced by the agitation archieved within the slurry pump (3).

The invention relates to a method of preventing the energy loss, self-heating and self-ignition of a peat stack. The rick storage of peat is often connected with a heating caused by exothermal reactions, which causes energy losses of the peat and even self-ignition. This problem has been solved by conducting inert protective gas into the stack, by which the air present in the stack is displaced or diluted and thus the aerobic exothermal reactions of the peat are prevented. It is preferable to insert inert protective gas in a liquid state into a stack heated up to critical point or into the heat centre of it, the gas rapidly cooling the stack or the centre and thus preventing even more efficiently the ignition of a stack fire. Covering the stack with a cover like a plastic foil considerably prolongs the presence of the inert-gas in the stack and thus improves the effect of the inert-gas treatment.
摘要:
A method of preparing fine particulate coal for power generation on which the coal is pretreated by the oil agglomeration method (10, 11) to increase the carbonaceous content and produce coal-oil agglomerates. These are fed to a fluidized bed (15) in which the fluid is steam. The bed as concentration is variable and agglomerates leaving the bed are disintegrated in a steam jet (21) which completes separation of the oil from the coal and forms the fine particle coal feed. The oil and steam are separated from the coal feed which continues in the fuel delivery system 29 to the power generation plant. The only steam mix is condensed 37 and the two phases separated (39) and recycled for further use. A control means is provided which is responsive to steam generation demand and activates changes in the generation of coal oil agglomerates (10, 11) and the discharge of coal particles from the fluid bed, disintegrator 15, 21.

0 An integrated, continuous (or batch) process for the beneficiation and/or liquefaction of coal, especially low rank coals, is provided, the process generally involving admixing coal with an organic liquid medium under high shear agitation, further beneficiating the coal by admixing the same in an aqueous medium optionnaly containing a monomer and a polymerization catalyst therefor and subjecting the resultant coal product to further high shear agitation in the presence of certain organic liquid media to provide a liquefield coal extract product and a further solid coal product. Beneficiated solid and liquefield coal products are also provided.

Process and apparatus are disclosed for removing a substantial portion of water and impurities from low rank coal and peat, whereby an improved coal or peat product (not found in nature) is obtained. The low rank coal and peat are subjected to a superheated gaseous medium, thereby substantially desorbing the moisture from the coal or peat and producing superheated gases. A substantial portion of the superheated gases produced are recycled back in contact with the coal being dried. Sufficient heat is added to the recycled gases, in response to monitoring, so that the recycled gases are maintained in a substantially superheated condition throughout. This process produces a dried, substantially purified product which retains a substantial portion of its volatile content, which has an improved heat value per unit weight, and which will not absorb substantial moisture when stored or transported. In one embodiment, the process utilizes superheated steam to initiate the drying process. In another embodiment, that minor portion of the superhreated gases in excess of the original volume not being recycled are recovered, and the fuel content thereof is used to provide energy for reheating the gases being recycled. In yet another embodiment, the processes are maintained at low pressures of under approximately 50 inches water column pressure. The process and apparatus provided also removes a substantial portion of the impurities such as sulfur, from the low rank coals and peat. The dried product may be cooled, and the impurities may be separated therefrom.
