The reluctance component (2) includes a capacitive and inductive magnetic core unit (21) having a loop-shaped first segment (22) and a second segment (23) connected to the first segment, and at least one coil (L) wound around and loosely coupled to the magnetic core unit (21). The damping capacitor (C d ) cooperates with the coil (L) to form a resonant circuit. The switching circuit (S1, S2) makes and breaks electrical connection between the coil and a DC power source (V dc ) so that an eddy current flowing through the resonant circuit may be generated for storing energy in the damping capacitor (C d ). The second segment (23) may be a permanent magnet. The damping capacitor outputs current to charge the DC power source (V dc ) when the voltage across the damping capacitor exceeds that of the DC power source (V dc ). In such a manner, magnetic energy of the magnetic core unit that has positive magnetic damping effect is converted into electrical energy for output, such that output electrical energy is increased, thus promoting usable electrical energy stored in the DC power source (V dc ).

A semiconductor chip package that includes a DC-DC converter implemented with a land grid array (LGA) package for interconnection and surface mounting to a printed circuit board. The LGA package integrates all required active components of the DC-DC power converter, including a synchronous buck PWM controller, driver circuits, and MOSFET devices. In particular, the LGA package comprises a substrate having a top surface and a bottom surface, with a DC-DC converter provided on the substrate. The DC-DC converter including at least one power silicon die disposed on the top surface of the substrate. A plurality of electrically and thermally conductive pads are provided on the bottom surface of the substrate in electrical communication with the DC-DC converter through respective conductive vias. The plurality of pads include first pads having a first surface area and second pads having a second surface area, the second surface area being substantially larger than the first surface area. Heat generated by the DC-DC converter is conducted out of the LGA package through the plurality of pads.

The regulating circuit (4) can be initiated (IN) by means of a second electronic switch (T5) so that the latter (T5) connects both the first terminal of a capacitor (C2) and of a first resistor (R6) and the base of a transistor (T3) to one pole (+) of the d.c. source (U), the main current path of the transistor (T3) being between the input of the driver (3) and the other pole of the d.c. source (U). The second terminal of the capacitor (C2) and of the first resistor (R6) are connected to the other pole (reference potential) of the d.c. source (U) and the end of the first electronic switch (1) connected to the load is connected to the second terminal of the capacitor (C2) via a feedback resistor (R8).
