A lubricating grease composition comprises a base oil and a thickening agent, wherein the thickening agent comprises (a) a lithium salt of hydroxystearic acid and (b) a lithium salt of a C 6 to C 14 fatty acid. The grease composition is useful for the improvement of the acoustic characteristics of bearings, in particular, the reduction of noise and the elongation of the service life of the bearings. Accordingly, the grease composition can be used for lubricating bearings, in particular, those used in spindle motors for the operation of recording devices such as those for computer hard disks and CD-ROM's.

A lubricating grease having a high dropping point, good stability against oxidation and long life contains a thickener comprising essentially the three components: lithium soap of C 12-24 hydroxy fatty acid; lithium phosphate salt produced from phosphoric or phosphorous acid ester and dilithium borate. The amounts of hydroxy fatty acid and phosphoric or phosphorous acid ester are 3-100 parts by weight and 0.05-15 parts by weight per part by weight of boric acid respectively.

The present disclosure provides an exoergic filler composition which is able to exert superior exoergic property, and an exoergic resin composition, an exoergic grease, and an exoergic coating composition which having superior exoergic property, respectively, by using the above-mentioned exoergic filler composition. The exoergic filler composition contains 1 to 50 volume % of a needle-shaped zinc oxide having an average long diameter of 0.1 to 10 µm, an average short diameter of 0.025 to 2.5 µm, aspect ratio defined by (average long diameter)/(average short diameter) of 4 or more and specific surface area according to BET method of 50 m 2 /g or less, and 50 to 99 volume % of other exoergic filler.

A grease with improved water resistance is based on a combination of a polyamide thixotrope with a water insoluble thickener, preferably a lithium soap/complex thickener and an antioxidant/corrosion inhibitor/antiwear additive package. The improvement is maintained when highly effective or aggressive rust inhibitors which normally tend to degrade water wash out resistance are present in the grease. Another advantage is that resistance to fretting is significantly improved to the extent that the greases containing these components are capable of achieving a high level of resistance to false brinelling. The greases are particularly useful for application in wind turbine bearings.

Lubricating grease composition comprising: (i) a base oil; and (ii) a thickener system comprising (i) a lithium soap of a first carboxylic acid selected from C 12 -C 24 hydroxy carboxylic acids and (ii) a lithium soap of a second carboxylic acid selected from C 12 -C 24 branched carboxylic acids, C 12 -C 24 dihydroxy carboxylic acids and mixtures thereof. The lubricating grease compositions according to the present invention have improved oil bleeding and shear stability properties, as well as improved grease lifetime and increased relubrication intervals.
