The device: injects fuel into the tank while the vaporized-fuel supply valve 42 is closed during an operation to produce the vaporized fuel; opens the vaporized-fuel supply valve 42 when an engine starts; and supplies the vaporized fuel stored in the tank to the surge tank 20. If an engine speed is not increased normally when the engine starts, a cylinder injection of fuel is further carried out in the compression stroke. The device, then, determines that the vaporized fuel is in the short supply when a behavior of the engine speed after injection is to be a predetermined increasing behavior, while that it is in the excess supply when not to be the predetermined increasing behavior.
