CONSTITUTION:A DC voltage is impressed between a couple of wires 1 and 2 to be sprayed, an arc is produced between the tips to melt the wires 1 and 2 by the heat of arc, and atomizing air 4 is injected from an atomizing nozzle 3 behind the wire. The molten metal of the wires 1 and 2 are atomized by the atomizing air 4 into the particles 5, and injected on the substrate to form the sprayed layer resulting from the wires 1 and 2. In this case, an air hose 9 to be connected to the nozzle 3 is formed by the insulating material 11 and a sheath 10, a heater 12 of nichrome wire, etc., is arranged therein, the heater is energized, and the atomizing air passing through a passage 13 is heated to >=150 deg.C. As a result, the particles 5 are not cooled by the atomizing air, and a sprayed layer is formed on the substrate with high adhesive strength.
