Abstract:
The present invention describes a method for measuring the concentrations of species present at one point of a separation unit functioning in simulated moving bed mode (SMB), using an immersing probe located at one point in the unit or on one of the streams entering or leaving said unit, and a thermocouple located in the vicinity of the immersing probe, in which a Raman spectrum obtained using a laser source functioning at a wavelength of 785 nm is utilized.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for performing sample assay to produce and measure optical responses and optical signatures.SOLUTION: According to various embodiments, a system comprising one or more LEDs (111), a temperature sensor (118) and a temperature regulator (122) is provided. The temperature sensor can thermally-contact the LED (111), can measure operating temperature, and also can generate an operating temperature signal. The temperature regulator can receive the operating temperature signal of the LED to adjust the operating temperature on the basis of the received operating temperature signal. According to the various embodiments, a method for irradiating a reaction area (108) with excitation beam is provided. The method may comprises a step for providing the system (100) comprising the LED (111) and the reaction area (108).

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for measuring a pH of a solution without requiring correction on a zero level with wavelengths around 700 nm where absorbency is hardly indicated by an indicator.SOLUTION: The method for measuring a pH of a solution includes: a light emission step of emitting light beams of two wavelengths from one side within a measuring region of the solution in which the indicator is mixed; a light receiving step of receiving the transmitted light beams and/or reflected light beams of the two wavelengths on the other side within the measuring region; an absorbance computing step of computing absorbances based on the transmitted light beams and/or reflected light beams received in the light receiving step; an absorbance ratio computing step of computing an absorbance ratio from the absorbances of the two wavelengths computed in the absorbance computing step; and a pH value computing step of computing a pH value of the solution based on the absorbance ratio and a previously stored absorbance ratio-pH correspondence database. The method for measuring a pH of the solution is characterized by including a step of executing the light emission step and the light receiving step of the light beams of the two wavelengths while pulsating the solution in the measuring region.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method of analysis for on-line concentration measurement of flow composition in hydrocarbon traveling within various separated bands of the simulated moving bed based on simultaneous measurement of Raman spectrum and temperature for a sample in the measuring point. SOLUTION: This invention is the method using an immersion probe and a thermocouple to measure concentration of a form existed in one point of a separator which functions in a manner of the simulated moving bed (SMB). The immersion probe is located in one of the flows entering or coming from one point inside the above separator or the separator itself, while the thermocouple is located near the immersion probe. Further the Raman spectrum obtained by using a laser light source which functions in wavelength of 785 nm is also used. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
