    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily obtain an optically active 3,4-bis(alkyloxycarbonyl)-1,6-hexanedioic acid derivative in high efficiency.SOLUTION: An optically active 3,4-bis(alkyloxycarbonyl)-1,6-hexanedioic acid derivative is produced by precipitating, from a solvent in a solid form, a salt formed from racemic 3,4-bis(alkyloxycarbonyl)-1,6-hexanedioic acid and an optically active amine. Subsequent cyclization and reduction of the derivative efficiently gives optically active 3,4-bis(alkyloxycarbonyl)cyclopentanol important as a raw material for pharmaceuticals, especially an agent for treatment of hepatitis C.
