Abstract: PURPOSE: To enable combustible mixture to be formed near a spark plug in the ignition timing by making the suitable dispersion time of spray injected during the compression stroke in an injection controller for a cylinder injection- type internal combustion engine. CONSTITUTION: An injection controller is constituted of an injection amount calculating means provided with a fuel injection valve for directly injecting fuel into a cylinder of an engine, and for calculating the fuel injection amount to be injected from the fuel injection valve during the compression stroke, an injection completion timing calculating means for calculating the injection completion timing AINJ2 on the basis of the basic fuel injection amount required for one combustion cycle of the engine, and a fuel control means for controlling the fuel injection amount in the compression stroke so that fuel may be injected from the fuel injection valve only for the fuel injection time τ2 by taking the injection completion timing as the reference. The dispersing time of spray after injection is made appropriate by controlling fuel injection by taking the injection completion timing of the fuel as the reference, and combustible mixture suitable for ignition is formed near a spark plug in the ignition timing.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of variation in the engine output torque unexpected by a driver by executing the regenerative operation of a NOx absorbent. CONSTITUTION:A NOx absorbent unit 5 and a NOx selective reducing catalyst unit 6 are arranged from upstream in the exhaust passage 3 of an internal combustion engine 1 in which lean air-fuel ratio operation is carried out. An engine control unit (ECU) 20 calculates the amount of NOx absorption inside the NOx absorbent unit 5 on the basis of the engine load conditions, and when the amount of NOx absorption exceeds a prescribed value, a reducing agent is supplied to the NOx selective reducing catalyst unit 6 through a reducing- agent supply device 11. Even if the amount of NOx absorption of the NOx absorbent increases and the absorbing chpacity is reduced, the NOx in the exhausst flowing downstream is reduced and purified by the NOx selective reducing catalyst unit, so that the need for regenerating the NOx absorbent by changing over the engine air-fuel ratio to rich at intervals of a prescribed time can be dispensed with, and the occurrence of an unexpected torque shock can be prevented.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To realize good combustion in the inlet stroke and in the compression stroke by changing the ratio of the fuel supply quantity to the fuel injection quantity so that the torque variation is below a preset torque variation. CONSTITUTION:In the inlet stroke fuel is supplied to form a predicted mixture in the cylinder of an engine, and in the compression stroke fuel is injected into the cylinder of the engine to form an igniting mixture near a spark plug. Especially, a torque variation detecting means 200 for detecting the torque variation is provided. The ratio of the fuel supply quantity in the inlet stroke to the fuel injection quantity in the compression stroke is changed by a fuel quantity ratio changing means 202 so that the torque variation detected by the torque variation detecting means 200 is below a preset torque variation. Thus, good combustion with small torque variation can be constantly obtained in the operating range.

CONSTITUTION:The real output torque of an engine is calculated by an output torque calculation means M2. The target torque of the engine is calculated from a detected result of an operation condition detection means M1 by a target torque calculation means M3. The target torque or the output torque is corrected in response to the delay of an ignition timing control means M4, by a torque correction means M5. The first or last correction values which decrease acording to the first and last decrease coefficients renewed based on the ratios of the first and last output torque and target torque at the time of the acceleration are by the first correction value calculating means M7 and the last correction means M8. A basic fuel injection quantity is increasingly correted by the first and last correction values at the time of the acceleration by a fuel injection quantity correction mean M9.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To utilize vaporizing fuel from a fuel tank so as to maintain a purifying factor of NOx always at a high value by introducing the vaporizing fuel into an exhaust pipe in the upstream of a lean NOx catalyst when an HC insufficient operation condition is judged. CONSTITUTION:A lean NOx catalyst 6, which is composed of zeolite carried with transition metals or noble metals to deoxidize NOx under presence of HC in the oxidizing atmosphere, is provided in an exhaust system 4 of an internal combustion engine 2. Vaporizing fuel pipes 12, 14, for guiding vaporizing fuel from a fuel tank 8 to a vaporizing fuel absorbing canister 10 and an upstream exhaust pipe 4a of the lean NOx catalyst 6, are provided. Here in an ECU30, a selector valve 16 is selected to a side of the vaporizing fuel pipe 12, when an operation condition of the internal combustion engine 2 detected by an operation condition detecting means is judged in an HC insufficient operation condition, and to a side of the vaporizing fuel pipe 14 when the operation condition is judged not in the HC insufficient operation condition. In this way, a purifying factor of NOx by the lean NOx catalyst 6 can be maintained always in a high value by holding a HC concentration of exhaust gas always in a high value.

A torque control means D controls the torque based on the correction quantity, when the torque difference between cylinders is not dissolved even if the torque difference between cylinders is large, an abnormal cylinder detecting means E judges the cylinder as abnormal. An abnormality can be correctly detected for each cylinder.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To control a fuel injection quantity with high accuracy irrespective of the magnitude of engine speed by increasing/reducing the fuel injection quantities of the whole cylinders in accordance with the magnitude of variation in the combustion pressure of one cylinder after adjusting output torques. CONSTITUTION:The differences in output torques between each cylinder are detected from the required times for explosion strokes calculated based on the output signals of a crank angle sensor 19 and a timer, in each control circuit 41. A fuel injection quantity is corrected so as to substantially remove the output torque differences to adjust the output torque of each cylinder. Then, the fuel injection quantities of the whole cylinders are increased/reduced in accordance with the variation in a combustion pressure from a combustion- pressure sensor provided on a first cylinder. Thereby, the controlling contents of fuel injection quantity becomes simple enabling highly accurate control of the fuel injection quantity irrespective of the magnitude of engine speed.
