Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent misjudgment of misfire in intentional fluctuation of engine torque. CONSTITUTION:Based on a detection result of a revolution number sensor 25 for detecting the revolution number of an engine 1, revolution fluctuation per explosion stroke of each cylinder of the engine 1 is obtained by an engine ECU 30, and when the obtained result is more than a predetermined value, it is considered as misfire at the explosion stroke of the each cylinder, and processing such as lighting of a misfire indicator lamp 12 is carried out in this gasoline engine system. This gasoline engine system is provided with ECTECU 41, TRCECU 42 and an auto drive ECU 44 for commanding intentional revolution fluctuation to the engine according to the driving state of the engine 1. When the command by those ECU 41 to 43 is carried out, misfire judgment by the engine ECU 30 is invalidated so as not to make judgment. By this, when intentional torque fluctuation is generated at the engine 1, judgment of misfire based on revolution fluctuation is not made.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration of the rate of fuel consumption and exhaust of a large quantity of detrimental components by increasing the initial value of the post-starting increment with the degree of leanness of the mixture gas under accelerative running, and increasing the damping rate of the post-starting increment with the leanness of mixture gas under accelerative operation. CONSTITUTION:On the basis of the output signal from an oxygen concentration sensor 19, an incremental rate calculating means D calculates the incremental rate of the fuel injection amount from the time, at which the mixture gas becomes lean under accelerative operation, and the time it becomes rich, and this rate is stored in a memory E. A fuel injection amount increasing means F increases the fuel injection amount by an incremental value of lessening gradually with the elapse of the time from completion of the start at a damping rate enlarging with increasing incremental rate according to the incremental rate from the initial value to be enlarged with increasing incremental rate according to the incremental rate stored in the memory E when the starting of the engine is completed. This prevents the air-fuel ratio in the later half of the post-start increment from becoming rich to a great extent, which should enhance the rate of fuel consumption and reduction of emission of the exhaust gas.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent fuel-air mixture from being brought into a widely lean state by a method wherein based on detection of an acceleration running detecting means and a backfire detecting means, when backfire occurs, a fuel injection amount during acceleration running is further increased. CONSTITUTION:A first increase means 52 performs acceleration increase correction of a fuel injection amount when acceleration running is detected by an acceleration running detecting means 50. In this case, when, during acceleration running detected by an acceleration running detecting means 50, the occurrence of backfire is detected by a backfire detecting means 51, a second increase means 53 further increases and corrects a fuel injection amount obtained by the first increase means 52, and based on the corrected fuel injection amount, drive of a fuel injection valve 12 is controlled. This constitution enables fuel-air mixture to be prevented from being brought into a widely lean state due to accumulation of a deposit during acceleration running.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To always enable optimum fuel increasing by detecting a deviation between lean period and rich period of an air-fuel mixture at an acceleration increasing time, and further increasing a fuel amount when the lean period is longer than the rich period and the deviation above exceeds a preset value. CONSTITUTION:A fuel jet control device controls a fuel jet amount by the use of a fuel jet control means B such that an air-fuel mixture shows a target air-fuel ratio according to an output of an oxygen concentration detector 19 provided on an exhaust passage A. When an internal combustion engine is detected to be under an accelerating operation condition by an accelerating operation condition detecting means C, the fuel jet amount is increased by a first fuel jet amount increasing means D. In this case, the deviation between rich period and lean period of the air-fuel mixture is detected by a deviation detecting means E according to the output of the oxygen concentration detector 19 substantially over the whole period that the increase by the increase means D continues. The fuel jet amount is increased by a second fuel jet amount increasing means F when the lean period is longer than the rich period and the deviation therebetween exceeds a preset value.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To exactly judge the medium degree of deterioration of three-way catalyst by determining that the catalyst of a catalyst converter is deteriorated when the frequency of inversions of the output from a lower side air fuel ratio sensor per specified period is over the specified value. CONSTITUTION:A primary comparison means compares the output V1 of an upper side air fuel ratio sensor with a primary comparison voltage VR1. A load detecting means detects the quantity Q of intake air and according to the load Q, a comparison voltage computing means computes the secondary comparison voltage VR2 as such that when the load Q is high, the voltage is computed to the value of estimating the air fuel mixture rich and when the load Q is low, the voltage is to the value of estimating the mixture lean. A secondary comparison means compares the output V2 of a lower air fuel ratio sensor with the secondary comparison voltage VR2. According to both the results, an air fuel ratio adjusting means adjusts the air fuel ratio. Meanwhile an inversion number computing means counts the number CS of inversions of the output V2 from the lower air fuel ratio sensor per specified period and a catalyst deterioration determining means determines that the catalyst of the catalyst converter is deteriorated when the number CS of inversions is over the specified value CS0.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To detect a trouble damage caused by the entry of air into an exhaust system by making a decision of the trouble of the exhaust system if the mixture at the lower side of a three-way catalyst does not change to be enriched when the air-to-fuel ratio feedback control constant is kept limited to the enrichness compensating upper limit during the specified period or more. CONSTITUTION:Air-to-fuel ratio detecting means M3 and M4 are placed at the upper and the lower side of a three-way catalyst M2 and based on the output from the lower-side air-to-fuel ratio detection means M4, a computing means M5 computes the air-to-fuel ratio feedback control constant within the enrichness compensation upper limit. Using this control constant, a control means M6 computes the air-to-fuel ratio control variable on the basis of the output of the upper-side air-to-fuel ratio detecting means M3 to control an air-to-fuel ratio regulating means M7. In this case when a decision means 8 decides that the control constant is kept limited to the enrichness compensation upper limit during the specified period or more, and a decision means 9 decides that the lowser-side air-to-fuel ratio will not be changed to be enriched within the specified period, a trouble detecting means M10 detects that a trouble occurs at an exhaust system.

CONSTITUTION:A delay timing detecting means 1c detects a delay angle of ignition timing by an ignition timing control means 1b. Discriminating means 3, 3',... discriminate whether or not the delay angle exceeds a decision reference value in the respective decision regions, and an accumulating means 4 accumulates discrimination results of each discriminating means 3, 3',.... A low supercharge pressure control means 5 feeds a signal to a supercharge pressure control means 2 so as to low decrease a supercharge pressure when the delay angle exceeds the reference value in the decision regions in a predetermined quantity or more. While a high supercharge pressure control means 6 feeds a signal to the supercharge pressure control means 2 so as to high increase the supercharge pressure when a number of decision regions, where the delay angle exceeds the reference value, decreases less than the quantity at least two smaller than the before said predetermined quantity.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To perform optimum control without causing hunting by performing supercharged pressure control in response to the spark delay quantity when the measured load is larger than the threshold value of the reference load for supercharged pressure control. CONSTITUTION:The spark lag quantity of ignition timing is increased or decreased by an ignition timing control means 1 in response to the presence of knocking, the spark lag quantity is detected by a spark lag quantity detecting means 2, and the supercharged pressure via a supercharger 3 is changed by a supercharged pressure control means 4. The actual load via a detecting means 5 is compared by the comparator 7a of a control means 7 with the threshold value of the reference load for supercharged pressure control calculated by a reference load value setting means 6, and if the measured load exceeds the threshold value, supercharged pressure control in response to the spark delay quantity is performed by the supercharged pressure control means 4 via a gate means 7b. Accordingly, deterioration of operability is prevented without causing hunting, and optimum control can be performed.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve more the overall operating performance of an exhaust gas cleaning apparatus in which the same exhaust gas cleaning catalyst is divided into an upstream catalyst converter and a downstream catalyst converter which are arranged in series along an exhaust gas discharging path, in the case where the former operates at a relatively high temperature and the latter operates at a relatively low temperature. SOLUTION: There are provided a bypass passage for bypassing the upstream catalyst converter and a flowing path switching valve. When the operating state of the internal combustion engine is such that the exhaust gas can be made to bypass the upstream catalyst converter from the viewpoint of cleaning of the exhaust gas (or particularly when a temperature of the upstream catalyst is high), the exhaust gas is made to bypass the upstream catalyst converter so as to be led to the downstream catalyst converter. SOLUTION: In a 'friction traveling mode' in which a vehicle is driven backward with an output from a carrier 'C' by operating the engine connected to a sun gear 'S' and by slip-engaging a ring gear 'R' with a first brake B1 that is connected to the casing, power generation of a starter connected to the crankshaft of the engine is controlled by power generating torque Ts to generate electric energy. The backward traveling is assisted by supplying the electric energy to a motor generator connected to the carrier 'C' to rotate it in the reverse direction by assisting torque Tmd.
