A process for the preparation of detergents containing a relatively low amount of isoparaffins, involving separating a hydrocarbonaceous product stream from a Fischer-Tropsch process using a cobalt based catalyst and producing normally liquid and normally solid hydrocarbons into a light fraction boiling below an intermediate fraction having detergent hydrocarbons, an intermediate boiling fraction having detergent hydrocarbons and a heavy fraction boiling above the intermediate boiling fraction having detergent hydrocarbons, followed by conversion of the detergent hydrocarbons present in the intermediate boiling fraction into detergents, the Fischer-Tropsch process being carried out at a relatively high pressure.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a detergent composition having low irritating to the skin, high versatility, and excellent in foamability especially in a weakly acidic region and hard water. SOLUTION: This composition contains a phosphoric monoester represented by formula (1) and a phosphoric monoester represented by formula (2) wherein (n) is 1 at a molar ratio of 70/30 to 90/10. Also, the composition contains 3 components added with a phosphoric monoester wherein the above (n) is 2 thereto. Further, the detergent composition contains phosphoric monoesters represented by formula (1) and formula (3) in which N=1 to 2. And, the detergent composition comprises a phosphoric ester surfactant obtained by reacting a compound, which is obtained by adding 0.3 to 0.8 moles of a 2-4C alkylene oxide (in terms of an average addition number of moles) to 1 mole of an alcohol having an 8-18C straight or branched chain alkyl or alkenyl group, further with phosphoric acid, polyphosphoric acid or P 2 O 5 .
