Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grease composition, relating a method for producing lubricating grease which is made dense with a soap using a dried base, for example, a base in the state of a lithium dispersion. SOLUTION: The invention provides a grease composition including a reaction product of a stable dispersion comprising a metal hydroxide with a number average particle size in the range of 20 nanometers to 2 micrometers, a surfactant with a HLB of less than 10, a mono- and/or poly- carboxylic acid, and an oil of lubricating viscosity. The method for producing the grease composition is also disclosed with benefits including a reduction in reaction time, amount of foam produced and environmental hazards. The invention relates to a method for producing lubricating grease which is made dense with a soap using a dried base, for example, a base in the state of a lithium dispersion. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium-containing calcium complexed type grease composition that has a high dropping point and a good shear stability, and that is stable against heat and has a long bearing lifetime.SOLUTION: A grease composition containing base oil, and calcium compounded soap and lithium soap as thickening agent, characterized, as the carboxylic acid that is constituting the calcium compounded soap and the lithium soap, substituted or unsubstituted straight-chain higher fatty acid of C18 to 22, substituted or unsubstituted aromatic monocarboxylic acid having benzene ring and straight chain saturated lower fatty acid of C2 to 4 are used.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel lubricant composition which neither rises in consistency nor separates the lubricating base oil nor leaks the separated lubricating base oil even when repeatedly stressed over a long period, a reduction gear using the above lubricant composition, and an electric power steering device. SOLUTION: The lubricant composition uses at least two types of combined thickening agents including lithium stearate as a thickening agent and has a worked penetration (25°C) of 355 or more. SOLUTION: The lubricating grease composition comprises (A) a mineral oil, a synthetic oil or a mixture thereof, (B) a urea compound, and (C) a metal salt of a fatty acid, the metal salt being composed of a metal selected from the group consisting of aluminum, magnesium, zinc, and calcium or a metal mixture thereof. Provided are an oil-gelling agent which is highly safe to living organisms and environment, shows a preferable texture in using, and has good gelling ability, and a thickened gel-like composition using said oil-gelling agent, as an oil-gelling agent capable of forming reverse worm-like micelles and a thickened gel-like composition. A combination of lecithin/sucrose fatty acid ester serves as an oil-gelling agent capable of forming reverse worm-like micelles of various oils. By using a three component mixture system consisting of lecithin/sucrose fatty acid ester/various oils, a thickened gel-like composition having a reverse worm-like micelle structure can be obtained. Thus, a good oil-gelling agent, which is highly safe to humans and environment, has a high stability over a long period of time and shows such a performance as required as an oil-gelling agent, and a thickened gel-like composition, which comprises said oil-gelling agent and an oil component and in which reverse worm-like micelles have been formed, can be easily provided.
