PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display an exact remaining amount by suppressing display flicker. SOLUTION: A control apparatus 100 of a liquid remaining amount meter 200 performs accumulation processing (S9 to S15) such that when a display level (Rm1) derived from liquid height detected by a first detecting section 141 is higher than a display level (Rm) indicated by the liquid remaining amount meter 200, an accumulated value (T) is increased and, on the contrary, when the display level (Rm1) is lower than the display level (Rm), the accumulated value (T) is decreased. Then, when the accumulated value (T) exceeds a predetermined threshold (Tc), display processing is performed (S16 to S19) to change the display level (Rm) displayed by the liquid remaining amount meter 200. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid reducing agent discriminating device having high accuracy in empty discrimination than before. SOLUTION: A concentration sensor and a water level sensor are provided on a storage tank of a liquid reducing agent, and empty discrimination is performed by using the water level based on the water level sensor in addition to the concentration based on the concentration sensor (Step 3 and Step 5). Even when any improper signal indicating an empty state is given by adhesion of bubbles to the concentration sensor though the remaining amount of the liquid reducing agent is sufficient, the water level sensor does not indicate any signal showing an empty state. Thus, any improper discrimination is prevented, and correct discrimination can be implemented. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT

A triangular wave generating circuit (21) generates a sweep voltage of a triangular wave, a VCO (22) generates a sweep of a frequency according to the sweep voltage, and a driving coil (4) is driven by the sweep voltage. From the current flowing through the driving coil (4), an interference component is extracted and rectified by a rectifier circuit (27). A peak hold circuit (28) holds a peak value of an interference voltage within a period corresponding to one sweep. The peak value thus held is compared by a comparator circuit (29) with a predetermined value and accordingly, a relay circuit (30) outputs a signal indicative of whether an object is present or not.
